Job Summary
Build your career shaping credit strategies that responsibly expand a leading card portfolio. You'll partner across teams, use data to drive decisions, and influence outcomes at scale.
As a Risk Strategy Associate in the Card Credit Decisioning team, you drive acquisition risk strategy by setting guardrails for growth, monitoring performance, and strengthening underwriting decisions across key customer segments.
Job responsibilities
  • Partner with product and risk partners to assess new credit opportunities and define execution plans
  • Establish governance routines to validate underwriting assumptions and ensure disciplined execution
  • Define inputs for new credit models and partner with modeling teams on roadmap and delivery
  • Develop and maintain performance metrics to track acquisition outcomes and risk trends
  • Lead performance monitoring updates and executive-ready reporting for senior stakeholders
  • Help shape credit policies, underwriting standards, and risk management frameworks
  • Ensure adherence to applicable regulations and internal control requirements for credit risk
  • Collaborate with partners (risk, underwriting, legal, finance) to balance growth and risk outcomes
  • Provide recommendations and/or approvals for complex acquisition-related credit transactions

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Finance, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Operations Research)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in direct-to-consumer lending, originations, and/or retail credit at a large financial services firm
  • Ability to evaluate and manage credit risk effectively
  • Strong quantitative, financial, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and strong execution skills, with a track record of improving outcomes
  • Experience collaborating across teams and lines of business in large organizations
  • Strong ability to create executive-level presentation materials and simplify complex topics
  • Strong problem-solving skills using data and qualitative insights to structure decisions
  • Experience with at least one analytics tool: SAS, SQL, Python, or Tableau (other coding languages considered)

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Experience developing acquisition strategies for mass, near-prime, and/or new-to-credit segments
  • Experience partnering with model development teams on acquisition scorecards or underwriting models
  • Experience designing monitoring frameworks and leading performance reviews with senior stakeholders
