Job Description

Central Higgins Optometrics is seeking a full-time frame stylist to work in our Chicago, IL office. We are looking for a talented stylist who is able to provide a high-quality service to our clients. The ideal candidate will be able to work with a team and communicate effectively. You should be able to maintain confidence with customers and follow instructions. The goal is to ensure every customer leaves our optometry satisfied and we are able to meet our goals by providing excellent service.

Duties include:

  • Interpreting the results of eye examinations, using prescriptions written by the doctor.

  • Advising patients on frame weights, materials, styles and colors

  • Recommending lenses, coatings and frames to suit customersโ€™ personal and occupational needs

  • Measuring customers to determine suitable types and styles of frames

  • Adjusting frames so they fit properly

  • Preparing orders for glasses and contact lenses by checking prescriptions, lens thickness and other specifications

  • Making sure that orders for glasses and contact lenses have been processed accurately

  • Provide excellent customer service


Experience required:

  • At least 2 yearsโ€™ experience (we will not provide any training)

  • Experience providing customer service by fitting, repairing, dispensing, and selling eyewear. Experience also in performing administrative duties in an optical setting.

Skills needed:

  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly for interpreting prescriptions and checking lenses

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical information clearly to customers

  • Familiarity with optical products

  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
