Organization: Lost and Crowned, Inc.
Position Type: Internship (non-paid)
Location: Remote, with outreach focused on the Tampa Bay region
Time Commitment: Approximately 3–5 hours per week
Reports To: Founder & Executive Director
Schedule: Flexible, with some outreach conducted during regular business hours

About Lost and Crowned, Inc.

Lost and Crowned, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring confidence and empowering lives. Through the Confident Crown Initiative, we provide free wigs and individualized support to people experiencing medically related and other qualifying forms of hair loss.

To expand our ability to serve clients, we are seeking a dependable and professional volunteer to help develop relationships with hairstylists, wig installers, salons, beauty professionals, and cosmetology schools throughout the Tampa Bay region.

Position Summary

The Volunteer Salon & Cosmetology Partnership Outreach Coordinator will identify and contact local hairstylists, wig installers, salons, barber and beauty schools, and cosmetology programs that may be interested in partnering with Lost and Crowned, Inc.

The volunteer will introduce the organization and its Confident Crown Initiative, explain available partnership opportunities, distribute approved outreach materials, schedule introductory conversations when appropriate, and maintain accurate records of all outreach and follow-up activity.

This position focuses on building a reliable network of qualified professionals who may support wig customization, preparation, fitting, styling, installation, education, volunteer service, student engagement, or other approved client-support activities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Research hairstylists, wig installers, salons, cosmetology schools, beauty academies, barbering programs, and related organizations in the Tampa Bay region.
  • Identify professionals and institutions with experience or interest in wigs, hair-loss support, natural hair, protective styling, cranial prostheses, or community service.
  • Contact prospective partners by telephone, email, social media, or other approved methods.
  • Use Lost and Crowned’s approved outreach language, flyers, partnership materials, and email templates.
  • Explain partnership and volunteer opportunities accurately and professionally.
  • Determine the prospective partner’s general interest, services, availability, location, and preferred method of follow-up.
  • Send interested professionals the appropriate volunteer application or partnership information.
  • Schedule introductory meetings with the Founder & Executive Director when requested.
  • Follow up with prospective partners according to the organization’s outreach schedule.
  • Maintain an organized outreach tracker containing contact information, dates, responses, follow-up needs, and partnership status.
  • Provide a brief weekly progress update summarizing contacts made, responses received, scheduled meetings, and next steps.
  • Represent Lost and Crowned’s mission, values, programs, and clients with professionalism and sensitivity.
  • Protect confidential organizational, partner, and client information.

Potential Partnership Opportunities to Discuss

Depending on the professional or institution, partnership opportunities may include:

  • Donated or reduced-cost wig installation and styling services
  • Wig preparation, customization, cutting, or fitting
  • Volunteer hairstylist or wig-installer participation
  • Cosmetology student service-learning opportunities, when permitted and properly supervised
  • Hosting educational sessions or demonstrations
  • Referring individuals experiencing hair loss to Lost and Crowned
  • Displaying approved outreach or referral materials
  • Donating professional services, products, supplies, or salon space
  • Supporting special events, confidence-building activities, or community outreach

All formal partnerships, service commitments, public representations, and agreements must receive approval from Lost and Crowned, Inc. leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable making outreach calls and sending professional emails
  • Friendly, persistent, organized, and respectful
  • Able to communicate confidently with business owners, beauty professionals, school administrators, and community partners
  • Able to maintain accurate records and complete timely follow-up
  • Comfortable using Google Drive, Google Sheets, email, and online research tools
  • Able to work independently while following approved procedures
  • Interest in nonprofit service, beauty and cosmetology, hair-loss support, relationship building, or community outreach
  • Familiarity with the Tampa Bay beauty or cosmetology community is helpful but not required

Important Role Boundaries

The volunteer may introduce approved partnership opportunities and gather preliminary information but may not:

  • Promise payment, funding, clients, publicity, tax benefits, or a specific number of referrals
  • Approve a stylist, salon, school, or partnership independently
  • Sign agreements or negotiate terms on behalf of Lost and Crowned, Inc.
  • Determine client eligibility or access confidential client records
  • Arrange client appointments without authorization
  • Create or distribute unapproved organizational language or materials
  • Commit the organization to an event, program, purchase, or financial obligation

All prospective partners must complete the appropriate review and approval process before providing services on behalf of Lost and Crowned.

Measures of Success

Success in this role may be measured by:

  • Consistent and professional outreach activity
  • Accurate documentation of contacts and follow-ups
  • Growth in the organization’s list of prospective service partners
  • Completed volunteer or partnership applications
  • Introductory meetings scheduled with qualified prospects
  • Development of dependable relationships with salons and cosmetology schools
  • Timely weekly progress reports

Benefits of Volunteering

  • Help restore confidence and dignity for people experiencing hair loss
  • Build nonprofit outreach, partnership development, and community-relations experience
  • Develop connections with beauty professionals, salons, and cosmetology programs
  • Receive appropriate training, approved outreach materials, and organizational support
  • Obtain volunteer-service documentation and a professional reference based on satisfactory service
  • Contribute to the development of a growing community-based nonprofit organization
