Job description

Position Summary

  • The Heavy-Duty Alignment & Frame Straightening Technician is responsible for accurately diagnosing, aligning, and repairing frames, suspensions, and steering systems on heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and commercial vehicles.

  • This position ensures that all vehicles are restored to manufacturer specifications for safety, performance, and structural integrity.

  • The technician works closely with the body shop and mechanical repair teams to coordinate workflow, complete high-quality repairs on schedule, and uphold standards of excellence.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform heavy-duty truck and trailer alignment using advanced alignment systems and specialized equipment.

  • Diagnose steering, suspension, and frame damage through measurement, inspection, and digital frame analysis.

  • Operate frame-straightening systems (hydraulic presses, frame machines, laser measurement tools) to correct structural deviations.

  • Ensure proper axle alignment, suspension geometry, and ride height according to OEM specifications.

  • Work with estimators and service advisors to identify needed repairs and document findings accurately.

  • Inspect and test repaired vehicles to verify alignment accuracy and handling performance.

  • Coordinate with body and mechanical technicians to plan efficient repair sequences.

  • Perform structural welding, cutting, and reinforcement as needed on frames and suspensions.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all safety, environmental, and company procedures.

  • Assist with estimating time, labor, and materials for alignment and frame repair jobs.

Qualifications

  • Experience in heavy-duty truck alignment, frame straightening, or related structural repair.

  • Strong knowledge of suspension geometry, axle alignment, frame measuring systems, and welding techniques.

  • Experience with Bee Line, Hunter, or similar heavy-duty alignment systems preferred.

  • Ability to read frame specifications, alignment charts, and measurement blueprints.

  • Proficiency in the use of hydraulic frame machines and related equipment.

  • Valid driverโ€™s license (CDL preferred).

  • Strong attention to detail, safety-minded, and capable of precise structural measurement and correction.
