Job description

Internship Opportunity

Suncoast Center provides community mental health services since 1944. We have provided emotional wellness, trauma services, and child advocacy to individuals and families.

Only one opening available for the remaining 2026 year at our Central Ave location.

Unpaid internship for masters level social services clinical student.

This internship will include hands-on experience working under the direction of licensed therapists, over the two-semester period.

Dates of internship: June 2026 and committing for a 1 year is required commitment.

Hours: A minimum of 20 hours per week required over 3-5 days per week, between the hours of 8am to 7pm Monday through Thursday and 8am to 5pm on Fridays.

Requirements prior to starting:

  • All background screenings (drug screening within 24 hours of acceptance, local/level II federal, MVR, and employment verifications)
  • Copy of current transcripts with acceptable GPA level
  • Signed agreement with college
  • Intern program guidelines from college for student
  • Copy of all signed documents between school/student and Suncoast Center
  • Schedule for onsite internship days/hours meeting 20 hours per week for the year

Please note the following:

  • Drug screening, background check, and DCF fingerprinting will be required. The cost will be paid by Suncoast Center.
  • To remain in compliance with Florida Statute 409.91256 and the TEACH program, we encourage interns to complete a survey of your experience with Suncoast Center.
