Job description

FRACTIONAL CFO | Strategic Financial Leadership | $130,000–$190,000 Annualized DOE

About the Company & Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Fractional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide hands-on financial leadership, strategic insight, and operational guidance on a part-time or project basis. This role is ideal for a senior finance executive who thrives in dynamic environments—helping small to mid-sized organizations strengthen their accounting infrastructure, streamline reporting, and prepare for sustainable growth.

The Fractional CFO will partner closely with ownership and senior leadership to deliver executive-level financial oversight without the full-time cost commitment, offering high-value expertise across forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out
• High-impact, flexible leadership role with schedule flexibility (10–20 hours per week).
• Partner directly with executive leadership to implement strategic initiatives.
• Opportunity to modernize financial systems and mentor accounting teams.
• Competitive compensation and ability to work remotely or hybrid, depending on client needs.

Key Responsibilities
• Oversee and guide accounting and finance operations, including month-end close, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Lead the preparation and analysis of financial statements to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
• Provide strategic insight to executive leadership—budgeting, forecasting, KPI reporting, and margin improvement.
• Evaluate and enhance internal controls, policies, and financial systems.
• Collaborate with external auditors, lenders, and investors as needed.
• Support mergers, acquisitions, or strategic initiatives with modeling and due diligence analysis.
• Mentor accounting staff and help strengthen department efficiency and reporting accuracy.

Core Competencies & Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including prior CFO or Controller-level experience.
• Strong background in GAAP compliance, cash flow management, and strategic planning.
• Proficient in ERP/accounting systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar).
• Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to operate in both tactical and advisory capacities.

Compensation: Annualized salary equivalent of $100,000–$170,000, depending on scope, structure, and client needs
Location: St. Joseph County
Engagement Type: Fractional / Contract
