What is a fractional analytics?

A Fractional Analytics job involves providing data analysis, insights, and strategic recommendations on a part-time or contract basis rather than as a full-time employee. Fractional analysts help businesses optimize their data-driven decision-making without the cost of a full-time hire. They often work with multiple clients, leveraging expertise in data science, business intelligence, and performance analytics. This role is ideal for companies that need high-level analytics expertise but do not require a full-time resource.

What are the typical responsibilities of someone working in fractional analytics?

Professionals in Fractional Analytics often juggle multiple clients or projects simultaneously, providing expert analysis, dashboard development, and strategic insights tailored to each organization's needs. Weekly tasks may include gathering and cleaning data, building and maintaining reports, meeting with stakeholders to understand business objectives, and translating analytics into actionable recommendations. The role frequently involves collaborating remotely with in-house teams, ensuring analytic solutions align with the client's strategic goals. Because projects can vary in scope, flexibility and the ability to quickly adapt to new industries or business models are important for success.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in fractional analytics?

To excel in a Fractional Analytics role, candidates typically require strong analytical expertise, experience in data interpretation, and a proven track record in data-driven decision-making, often backed by a degree in statistics, mathematics, or a related field. Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Power BI, SQL, and certifications in data analytics platforms are highly valuable. Strong communication, adaptability, and stakeholder management skills help Fractional Analytics professionals to effectively deliver insights across multiple organizations or projects. These capabilities are essential for providing impactful, high-level analytics on a part-time or project-basis, ensuring companies achieve data-driven results without a full-time commitment.

Job description

Fractional Senior Business Process Consultant – SAP S/4HANA

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Fractional Senior Business Process Consultant with strong SAP and manufacturing experience to support business process improvements and ERP initiatives within a multi-site manufacturing and distribution environment.

This is an ideal opportunity for a senior business analyst or business process professional who brings breadth across SAP and business functions rather than deep expertise in a single SAP module.

The successful candidate will understand how SAP supports core business processes and will be comfortable working across functional and technical teams to turn business needs into clear requirements, actionable plans, and completed solutions.

Initial initiatives are expected to focus on manufacturing, warehousing, and potentially sales and sales-related business intelligence enhancements.

What You'll Do

  • Own multiple business enhancement requests and initiatives from discovery through implementation.
  • Lead business discovery sessions and stakeholder workshops.
  • Gather, document, validate, and prioritize business requirements.
  • Analyze current-state and future-state business processes.
  • Translate business needs into clear, executable work plans.
  • Develop process documentation, workflow diagrams, SOPs, and other supporting materials.
  • Build and maintain project plans, work breakdown structures, timelines, and dependencies.
  • Coordinate activities across business stakeholders, analysts, process owners, and technical teams.
  • Identify risks, assumptions, dependencies, and organizational impacts.
  • Facilitate decision-making and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Communicate project status, issues, risks, and recommendations to leadership.
  • Help stakeholders evaluate tradeoffs and develop practical solutions that balance business and technical requirements.
  • Partner with SAP subject matter experts and internal functional resources while maintaining ownership of overall delivery.
  • Drive initiatives through completion and ensure business improvements are successfully implemented.

Technology & Business Environment

  • SAP S/4HANA
  • SAP Plant Maintenance (PM)
  • Manufacturing and plant operations
  • Warehouse and distribution processes
  • Sales and related business processes
  • Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
  • Enterprise business processes

Deep SAP configuration expertise is not required. We are looking for someone who understands how a Tier 1 ERP platform supports business operations and can effectively collaborate with functional and technical experts across SAP.

What We're Looking For

  • 8+ years of experience leading business process improvement, business analysis, or similar initiatives.
  • Strong experience with SAP or another Tier 1 ERP environment.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong requirements gathering and business analysis skills.
  • Ability to map and document business processes and workflows.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Experience taking projects from discovery and requirements through implementation.
  • Strong facilitation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate without direct authority.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to break complex work into clear, manageable plans.
  • Ability to work effectively with both business stakeholders and technical teams.

Preferred Experience

  • SAP S/4HANA
  • SAP Plant Maintenance
  • Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
  • Manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution operations
  • Multi-site organizations
  • Sales and commercial business processes
  • Change management and user adoption
  • Continuous improvement methodologies

The Ideal Candidate

You are a senior business analyst and business process leader who brings structure to ambiguity.

You don't need to be the deepest SAP functional expert in the room. Instead, you understand enough of SAP and core business processes to ask the right questions, engage the appropriate subject matter experts, identify dependencies, and keep initiatives moving.

You're equally comfortable leading a workshop with business stakeholders, documenting requirements, building a project plan, coordinating technical resources, resolving competing priorities, and communicating progress to leadership.

Most importantly, you take ownership. You don't simply facilitate meetings or document requirements—you turn ideas and business requests into organized, executable initiatives and drive them through completion.

Why This Opportunity?

  • Fractional, flexible engagement of up to 20 hours per week.
  • Initial 90-day commitment with strong potential for extension.
  • Opportunity to work across manufacturing, warehouse, sales, and enterprise business processes.
  • Remote U.S. position with periodic in-person collaboration preferred in the St. Louis area.
  • Work directly with business stakeholders, analysts, process owners, and SAP experts.
  • Ideal fit for an experienced SAP professional seeking a part-time consulting engagement.

If you bring strong SAP and manufacturing experience, broad business process knowledge, and the ability to turn complex business needs into clear plans and delivered results, we'd like to hear from you.
