Job description
Optometrist
We are seeking a compassionate and community-focused Optometrist to join our Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). The Optometrist will provide comprehensive primary eye care services, including diagnosis and management of ocular disease, in a team-based, patient-centered medical home environment serving diverse and underserved populations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations
- Diagnose and manage ocular diseases
- Prescribe corrective lenses and therapeutic pharmaceuticals
- Educate patients on preventive eye health
- Document care accurately in the electronic health record
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and meet productivity standards
- Collaborate with primary care providers and care teams
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited school of optometry
- Active and unrestricted Georgia optometry license
- Eligible to prescribe and manage pharmaceutical agents under Georgia law
- Successful completion of National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO) examinations
- Current DEA registration (or ability to obtain, if applicable to scope)
- Current BLS certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire)
- Experience or willingness to work in a community health/FQHC setting
- Commitment to serving diverse and medically underserved populations
- Ability to meet productivity and quality benchmarks in a value-based care environment
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR)
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, credential verification, and drug screening in accordance with organizational policy and HRSA/FQHC requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of clinical experience
- Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC)
- Experience treating ocular disease
- Bilingual (Spanish preferred)
- Experience with quality reporting measures (UDS, HEDIS, etc.)
