Overview
Chenega Naswik International, LLC is seeking a professional and highly motivated Protective Security Officer (PSO) to provide armed security services in support of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Federal Protective Service (FPS) at federally protected IRS facilities. This position is responsible for protecting federal personnel, facilities, and property through access control, security screening, patrol operations, incident response, and compliance with established security procedures.
  • The ideal candidate is a disciplined security professional with strong observational skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to public safety. This role offers the opportunity to support critical federal security operations while contributing to the protection of government personnel, assets, and infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Perform access control functions by verifying identification and controlling the entry and exit of personnel, visitors, vehicles, and property.

  • Conduct screening operations utilizing X-ray machines, magnetometers, handheld detection devices, and manual inspection procedures.

  • Perform interior and exterior patrols to identify and respond to security concerns, suspicious activity, and potential threats.

  • Respond to alarms, incidents, emergencies, and unusual situations in accordance with post orders and established procedures.

  • Operate security systems including CCTV, intrusion detection systems, fire alarm systems, and communication equipment.

  • Process visitors, issue credentials, maintain visitor logs, and coordinate escort procedures as required.

  • Identify, report, delay, or detain individuals who violate security requirements or pose a threat to personnel or property in accordance with applicable policies and laws.

  • Respond to medical emergencies, fire alarms, hazardous conditions, civil disturbances, and evacuation events.

  • Prepare accurate reports, incident documentation, activity logs, and prohibited item reports.

  • Maintain professional appearance, conduct, and customer service standards.

  • Safeguard government-issued and company-issued equipment, weapons, keys, and access devices.

  • Coordinate activities with FPS personnel, supervisors, law enforcement agencies, and emergency responders as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years of armed security, law enforcement, military, or equivalent qualifying experience.

  • Must meet all FPS Protective Security Officer medical qualification requirements.

  • Possess and maintain a valid Maryland State Police Security Guard Certification.

  • Possess and maintain an active Maryland Handgun Wear and Carry Permit.

  • Maintain current Maryland State Police-approved firearms training and weapons qualification requirements.

  • Must maintain a professional appearance and comply with FPS contract uniform and grooming standards.

  • Must obtain and maintain required firearms qualifications and training certifications, including CPR, AED, First Aid, FPS training, and site-specific training requirements.

  • Ability to stand, walk, patrol, and respond to emergencies for extended periods.

  • Ability to successfully maintain all required suitability, credentialing, and security requirements.
