Fpga Uvm Verification Engineer information

What is an FPGA UVM Verification Engineer?

FPGA UVM Verification Engineers are specialized professionals who verify and validate the functionality of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) using the Universal Verification Methodology (UVM). Their role involves creating testbenches and simulation environments to ensure that FPGA designs meet their specifications and operate reliably. They use hardware description languages like Verilog or VHDL and apply advanced verification techniques to identify and resolve design issues early in the development process. Their expertise is crucial for delivering high-quality, error-free FPGA products for applications in industries such as telecommunications, automotive, and aerospace.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an FPGA UVM Verification Engineer?

To excel as an FPGA UVM Verification Engineer, you need a solid background in digital design, verification methodologies, and a degree in electrical or computer engineering. Expertise with SystemVerilog, Universal Verification Methodology (UVM), and simulation tools like ModelSim or Questa is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication are crucial soft skills that set top candidates apart. These skills ensure accurate and efficient verification of complex FPGA designs, leading to robust and reliable hardware products.

What are some common challenges faced by FPGA UVM Verification Engineers during project cycles?

FPGA UVM Verification Engineers often encounter challenges such as meeting tight verification deadlines, adapting to evolving specifications, and debugging complex functional issues in large-scale designs. Collaboration with design engineers is critical to resolve ambiguities and ensure comprehensive test coverage. Staying up-to-date with the latest UVM methodologies and maintaining reusable verification environments are also key aspects that require continuous learning and adaptability.

What is the difference between Fpga Uvm Verification Engineer vs FPGA Verification Engineer?

Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated RF Engineer (JCREW) to join our team, supporting the development and integration of advanced RF and EW systems. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to complex RF systems in a collaborative and innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design, development, integration, testing, and evaluation of RF and EW systems, subsystems, and supporting test infrastructure.
  • Perform RF signal analysis, waveform generation, modulation assessment, and technical evaluation of RF communications and propagation effects.
  • Use RF laboratory and test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, signal generators, and related instrumentation to construct, acquire, define, measure, and evaluate RF signals and waveforms.
  • Support laboratory, field, and operationally relevant test events, including setup, execution, troubleshooting, data collection, and post-test analysis.
  • Assist with RF modeling and simulation, verification and validation, and assessment of RF coverage, antenna effectiveness, and related performance characteristics.
  • Support analysis of RF hardware architectures, including transmit and receive chains, interfaces, and integration considerations.
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of test procedures, technical documentation, reports, briefs, and recommendations supporting customer decision-making.
  • Support test equipment setup, maintenance, calibration awareness, and technical readiness in both lab and field environments.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams supporting systems engineering, software development, modeling and simulation, and test and evaluation activities.
  • Provide engineering recommendations to improve test rigor, repeatability, efficiency, and mission relevance.
  • Support work in secure environments and travel as required to support customer test events and mission needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Concentration in microwave engineering, radio frequency theory, electromagnetics, or communications systems preferred.
  • 3+ years of related professional experience in microwave and radio frequency design, RF test, RF systems engineering, or closely related work.
  • Working knowledge of RF communications, propagation, modulation schemes, and waveform analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with RF measurement and laboratory equipment, including spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, and signal generators.
  • Understanding of RF transmit and receive architectures and associated integration and test considerations.
  • Ability to analyze technical data and clearly document findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative technical environment.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and contribute in a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting test and evaluation of RF, EW, wireless, or communications systems.
  • Field experience with RF propagation testing, over-the-air testing, or other operationally relevant test events.
  • Familiarity with software-defined radio (SDR) concepts and associated hardware.
  • Experience with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and/or Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA)-based systems.
  • Experience with RF modeling and simulation, verification and validation, or test infrastructure development.
  • Experience preparing test plans, technical reports, briefing materials, or other engineering documentation.
  • Familiarity with secure laboratory environments, developmental test activities, and troubleshooting of integrated systems.
  • Ability to support higher-classification tasking as required by assignment."
