Job description

Foundry Technical Director

The Foundry Technical Director role is a newly created position that will be responsible for sand, metals, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position will oversee a team of 4 people including a metallurgist, foundry engineer, and the lab department.

Responsibilities

  • Management of the continuous improvement projects throughout the Foundry
  • Provide vision, direction, and support to foundry staff in meeting safety, quality, productivity, delivery and lean objectives.
  • Ensure foundry personnel have the tools, training, and environment they need to work safely and efficiently to produce high quality cast parts.
  • Work closely with sales, engineering, metallurgy, and manufacturing support departments to develop and improve processes and ensure equipment safety and availability in support of Company objectives and customer interests.
  • Develop department staff for growth into future opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree preferred or 5-10 years of leadership experience within a Gray/Ductile Iron foundry
  • Technical understanding of the casting process
  • Strong communications and leadership skills are a must.
  • Continuous Improvement/Lean/Six Sigma experience is highly desirable.
