Founder And Manager information

What are some common challenges Founder and Managers face when balancing leadership responsibilities and day-to-day operations?

Founder and Managers often encounter the challenge of wearing multiple hats, balancing strategic decision-making with hands-on management of daily operations. This dual role can lead to time constraints and prioritization issues, especially in start-up or small business settings where resources are limited. Successful Founder and Managers typically develop strong delegation skills, build trust with their team, and implement clear processes to ensure both the company's vision and operational needs are consistently met. Regular communication and adaptability are key to overcoming these challenges and driving business growth.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Founder and Manager, and why are they important?

Job description

About Salix Compass

At Salix Compass, we believe that administrative red tape should never stand between a patient and life-saving medication. We are a newly launched nonprofit initiative dedicated to helping patients and clinics navigate the complex administrative barriers that delay access to critical healthcare.

As a nimble, growing organization, we are moving fast to make a tangible impact. We are looking for a passionate, organized partner to help our Founder streamline operations and clear the runway so we can scale our mission.

The Role: Your Mission

Are you a hyper-organized "air traffic controller" who loves keeping chaos at bay? Do you thrive on setting up systems, managing calendars, and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks?

We are seeking a Volunteer Executive Assistant to work directly with our Founder/Executive Director. This is an entry-level volunteer position, but it is a critical foundational role. Our goal is to transition this into a permanent, paid position as Salix Compass secures further funding and grows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Calendar & Email Management: Take the reins of the Founder's inbox and schedule. Protect their time and ensure they know exactly where they need to be and when.
  • Digital Organization: Tame our Google Drive and file systems so info is easy to find.
  • Document Formatting: Help draft, proofread, and format documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Light Marketing & Design: Use Canva to create clean, visually appealing materials or social graphics to help share our mission.
  • Special Projects: Assist with basic research, meeting minutes, and other administrative tasks as they arise.

What We Are Looking For

  • The Organizer: You are naturally detail-oriented, proactive, and love structure. You aren't afraid to manage "up" and keep the Founder on track.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficient in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive), Microsoft Office, and Canva.
  • The Communicator: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will represent Salix Compass in email correspondence.
  • The Heart: A genuine passion for healthcare access, patient advocacy, and the nonprofit sector.
  • Availability: 5–10 hours per week. Must be willing to hop on Zoom or Google Meet calls for initial training, orientation, and regular check-ins.

What’s In It For You?

While this is currently an unpaid volunteer role, we deeply value your time and expertise. We want this to be mutually beneficial. We offer:

  • Ground-Floor Experience: Learn the ins and outs of launching and scaling a nonprofit from a Founder's perspective.
  • Career Growth: This role is positioned to become a permanent paid opportunity as our funding grows.
  • Professional Support: The Founder is highly invested in your success and is eager to provide glowing letters of recommendation, LinkedIn endorsements, and mentorship.
  • Flexibility: Work from anywhere on a schedule that fits your life.

How to Apply

If you are ready to use your organizational superpowers to help patients access life-saving care, we want to hear from you! Please submit your resume and a brief note explaining why you’re excited about Salix Compass’s mission.
