Minnesota Power is seeking a Director of Corporate Giving & Community Relations to lead and shape the company's external community engagement strategy. This role helps position the company and its subsidiaries as trusted community partners and responsible corporate citizens. The Director is responsible for fostering a positive company image with external stakeholders through community partnerships, corporate giving, employee advocacy, and strategic outreach. This role is instrumental in shaping Minnesota Power's reputation and advancing meaningful community impact.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, business, public affairs, or a related field.
  • Twelve years of progressively responsible experience in community relations, public affairs, or a related field.
  • Proven leadership in community engagement, strategic partnerships, and stakeholder relations.
  • Experience overseeing corporate giving, grants, sponsorships, or foundation programs.
  • Executive-level communication, presentation, and leadership skills with strong strategic judgment.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to travel required.
  • This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match, and/or aptitude.

What You'll Do
  • Lead corporate giving, community relations, and external engagement strategies that strengthen the company's reputation and community impact.
  • Represent the company externally and build relationships with customers, public officials, community organizations, educational institutions, civic groups, business leaders, and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee the Minnesota Power Foundation and corporate grant and sponsorship programs, ensuring alignment with company values, strategy, compliance requirements, and measurable outcomes.
  • Develop strategic partnerships to advance business objectives, community priorities, and employee advocacy efforts, including the ALLETE Advocates program.
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level reports to senior leadership and the Foundation Board on community investments, partnerships, risks, and outcomes.
  • Lead Community Advisory Panels, support employee volunteerism and participation in key community initiatives, and coordinate outreach for operational events.
  • Manage department budgets while monitoring community trends, risks, and opportunities to inform strategic decision-making.

The expected annual compensation range for this position is $152,000 - $177,000. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions. Additionally, this position qualifies for a comprehensive benefits package, including an Incentive Program, Retirement Benefits, Medical, Dental & Vision Plans, Health Savings Account, Flexible Spending Account, Life Insurance, Disability, Tuition Reimbursement, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences, and more.
