Position: Trailer Mechanic
Job Description:
Forward Air is looking for a self-motivated individual to join the maintenance team as a full-time Trailer Mechanic. Duties include maintaining all aspects of vehicles, trailers, and other mechanical equipment of Forward Air. This individual will be expected to do this while adhering to the compliance of all FA Policies, safe work practices, and maintaining high customer service.
Core Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Evaluate status of mechanical equipment, and trailers
  • Maintain equipment according to DOT regulations
  • Perform minor trailer repairs
  • Perform tire mounting/dismounting and repairs
  • Perform minor cosmetic repairs
  • Conduct various analysis and inspections of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical systems to determine the most cost-effective means of maintenance, repair, or replacement
  • Maintain regular and dependable attendance
  • Maintain work area, tools, and equipment
  • Operate a variety of diagnostic instruments and a variety of hand, electric, and air-driven tools
  • Perform minor building and facility maintenance
  • Perform data entry in Maintenance Software to track repairs
  • Keep shop and company tools clean and in good working order
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • Prior experience with truck, trailer, and/or vehicle repair
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Desire for a long-term career with an industry leading company
  • Ability to present and maintain a positive corporate image in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all support departments
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (extended hours as required)
  • Must have basic set of tools
