Job description

The Archdiocese of St. Louis Catholic Education and Formation features an expansive coalition of schools that allow our children to develop a sense of purpose and value, receive a higher quality education, join a welcoming community and feel secure in a a dynamic future.  We have a rich history, with its establishment 200 years ago by St. Rose Phillppine Duchesne.  A coalition of schools serving over 50,000 students (PreK-12) within an 11-county area.  The educational experience provided to our students and their families is rooted in a higher calling from God to honor and celebrate the gifts He has given us.

Job Summary

We are seeking a faith-filled, full-time Elementary School Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. Grade level assignment will be determined based on school needs and candidate experience. Qualified candidates should hold a degree in Elementary Education (or related field) and possess or be willing to obtain appropriate certification. Compensation is based on degree and years of experience according to the school salary scale.
Our Elementary School Teacher position involves overseeing the care, formation, and instruction of young children in classes of up to 28 students. This includes instruction in social skills, phonemic awareness, number sense, reading fluency and comprehension, math concepts and reasoning, and supporting the children’s growth in their relationship with Christ. Additionally, this position necessarily includes supervision, assessing students, clerical responsibilities, working with a team of teachers, taking and reporting grades, communication with parents, and planning lessons for age-appropriate formation and student engagement.

  • Plan and deliver engaging instruction aligned with curriculum standards in core subject areas. 
  • Integrate Catholic teachings, values, and traditions into all aspects of classroom life. 
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of all learners. 
  • Foster a positive, structured classroom environment rooted in respect, responsibility, and Christian values. 
  • Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative tools
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians. 
  • Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administration to support student success and school initiatives. 
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies that promote positive behavior. 
  • Utilize educational technology to enhance instruction and student engagement. 
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and faith formation opportunities. 
  • Maintain accurate records, lesson plans, and required documentation in accordance with school and Archdiocesan policies. 
Job Requirements
  • Practicing Catholic preferred 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related field required 
  • Valid state teaching certification (or willingness to obtain certification) 
  • Religious Education Certification preferred or willingness to pursue 
  • Strong instructional, organizational, and classroom management skills 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a faith-based educational environment 
  • Effective communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues
