Overview: This is a skilled trade position for those who can establish form layout lines from fixed grades, set and pin steel forms to the line, construct timber forms when required, and finish concrete flatwork and curbing.
Responsibilities:
· Must be proficient with steel form installation, to include pinning, bracing, and proper maintenance.
· Must have basic carpentry skills and be able to construct composite timber forms, as required to “piece” steel form gaps or free form non-steel form items.
· Must have significant site layout skills to include establishing string line form guides, establishing proper vertical “fall” for drainage, establishing and pulling from radii, and properly squaring corners.
· Must have experience with concrete reinforcement installation to include rebar installation, wire mat installation, and wire tying.
· Must be proficient in the finishing of concrete flatwork and curbing, to include floating, troweling, edging and jointing.
· Must have basic knowledge of American Concrete Institute standards for concrete placement, construction joint layout, and expansion joint layout.
· Must have basic knowledge of VDOT, or local municipal, concrete construction standards.
· Must be able to read a tape and use a level.
· Follow safety guidelines and regulations
· Communicate with coworkers and supervisors about job tasks and concerns
· Other tasks as assigned
Education: GED or High School diploma preferred
Experience: 4-5 years experience with concrete and asphalt; Ability Read plans, instructions, or specifications to determine work activities is a plus
Certifications and Licenses: Driver’s license required
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift 50 lbs consistently through the day
Must be able to push pull and carry
Must be able to use hands to manipulate tools and materials
Must be able to reach with arms
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Must be able to kneel, bend, and twist
Must be able to see and hear
Must be able to work in Summer heat and Winter cold
