Job description

What We Do
Shape the future of cybersecurity at Forescout. Each day cyberattacks threaten to disrupt hospitals, power grids, financial systems, and the infrastructure we all depend on. At Forescout, we build the defenses that keep civilization running smoothly in an increasingly connected world.
For more than 25 years, Fortune 100 organizations, government agencies, and large enterprises have trusted Forescout as their foundation to manage cyber risk, ensure compliance, and mitigate threats. From power grids and healthcare systems to financial networks and transportation hubs, Forescout protects the critical infrastructure of our modern world.
(Only US Citizens and US Permanent Residents will be considered for this position.)
(Hybrid role Tuesday through Thursday in our Plano office.)
What You Will Do
Forescout is growing fast and is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented Engineering Manager for Test Automation (SDET) to lead and grow our automation-first quality engineering team. This is a builder's role: you will own test automation across our products today and steer the team toward an AI- and agent-assisted future, where generative AI and intelligent agents help author, maintain, and optimize tests as part of the framework itself.
  • Lead, coach, and grow a team of SDETs and QA engineers responsible for test automation across Forescout product lines - owning delivery accountability, people development, and team culture.
  • Define and drive an automation-first quality strategy: design, scale, and maintain robust, reusable test automation frameworks integrated directly into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Stand up and evolve an AI/agent-assisted test-generation capability - guiding the team toward LLM and agent-driven test creation, self-healing scripts, and intelligent, risk-based test prioritization.
  • Balance automation and manual testing efforts, ensuring strong coverage and quality across functional, regression, API, performance, and security testing.
  • Partner with Engineering, Product, and DevOps to embed quality early (shift-left) and integrate automated quality gates into the release pipeline.
  • Define, track, and act on quality and automation metrics (coverage, flakiness, defect escape rate, cycle time) to drive continuous improvement.
  • Hire and onboard new team members, and own performance evaluation, career development, and growth planning for the team.
  • Ensure regulatory and security compliance within QA processes where applicable.
  • Serve as a trusted quality partner across cross-functional teams, managing priorities and risk in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

What You Bring To Forescout
Key Skills
  • Excellent leadership and people management - a track record of building and growing high-performing automation or quality engineering teams.
  • Strategic thinking and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
  • Coaching, performance development, and hiring.
  • Risk management and sound decision-making in fast-paced environments.
  • Project management and agile methodologies.
  • Curiosity and fluency around applying AI and generative AI to engineering workflows.

Core Technical Competencies
  • Deep understanding of test automation frameworks, QA methodologies, and the SDLC, with a hands-on engineering background.
  • Proficiency building automation in one or more languages (Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or C#).
  • Experience with modern automation tooling (Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, TestNG/JUnit, Appium) and API testing (REST Assured, Postman).
  • Strong CI/CD integration experience (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) and cloud/containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Command of code quality, defect prevention, and test metrics and reporting.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards (e.g., ISO, SOC 2) in QA processes.

AI & Automation Innovation (what sets this role apart)
  • Practical interest or experience applying LLMs and generative AI to software testing - prompt engineering for test generation and evaluating and validating AI-generated tests.
  • Vision for building agentic frameworks, where AI agents help author and maintain tests, with the engineering rigor to keep them reliable (mutation scoring, deterministic gating, flake management).
  • Understanding of how to integrate AI-assisted testing into CI/CD and measure its quality and trustworthiness.

What Forescout Offers You
  • Competitive compensation and benefits - we cover 85% of employee and dependents' benefits premiums (US only), 401K match, generous PTO policy, and much more
  • Collaborative and innovative environment - make an impact on worldwide security while working on the hottest technology
  • Leadership that supports and encourages professional growth and development
