United Support Services, Inc., founded in 2003, is an innovative engineering and technology business headquartered in San Diego, CA. We have an exciting new opportunity and are currently looking for an experienced Foreman to provide support to U.S. Navy vessels in the Hampton Roads, VA area. This position offers a competitive salary and unique opportunity to perform various shipboard duties.

Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the day-to-day management of all maintenance and repairs on barges.
Act as the primary liaison between USS and the customer.
Recognize, address, and resolve issues/problems among/between employees.
Ensures employee compliance with customer and company policies and procedures.
Follows site plans and schedules and ensures that employees under his/her direction perform daily and weekly activities to meet production goals.
Monitor tool and part inventories and the condition and maintenance of shops to ensure adequate working conditions.
Oversee the execution of the work, including quality and production, ensuring that the crew works to job specifications.
Investigate accidents and injuries and prepare reports of findings.
Recommend or initiate personnel actions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures.
Counsel employees about work-related issues and assist employees to correct job-skill deficiencies.
Examine objects, systems, or facilities, and analyze information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.
Assist program and project teams with prospective work estimates and hours needed to complete the job including material procurement, quotes and duration of project.
Conduct or arrange for worker training in safety, repair, and maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.
Manage site to ensure work scope, schedule, quality, and budget objectives are met.
Ensure project teams comply with all published and directed health, safety, environmental, and worksite cleanliness requirements.
Maintain a work file Current Ship's Maintenance Program (CSMP) for each barge.
Alert management any time scope, schedule, quality, or cost objectives are becoming jeopardized.
Effectively communicate with all levels of customer representatives, sub-contractors, and vendors.
Discuss with our customer and enforce all aspects of work assignments including personnel resources and availabilities, applicable safety equipment requirements and provisions, material and equipment status, shipping schedules and related impacts, work and effort requirements and safety concerns.
Other duties as assigned.


Required Experience:

Messing & Berthing Barge Experience preferred.

5 years' related ship repair work experience.
2 years of Foreman/Supervisor experience.
Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical manuals and other technical data and in sequencing work appropriately to eliminate repeating work efforts.
Experience in testing, troubleshooting and inspecting installed equipment and systems.
Familiar with federal, state, and local environmental rules and regulations.


Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Must have Security Clearance.

Must have Drivers License.
