Foreman Manager information

What are some common challenges faced by a foreman manager when overseeing multiple teams on a construction site?

A Foreman Manager often encounters challenges in coordinating multiple teams, especially when tasks overlap or rely on one another's progress. Communication and scheduling are critical, as delays or misunderstandings can impact the entire project's timeline. Managing diverse teams also requires balancing different skill levels and personalities, ensuring safety standards are met, and adapting quickly to unforeseen changes like weather or supply delays. Successful Foreman Managers use strong organizational and interpersonal skills to address these challenges and keep projects running smoothly.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a foreman manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Foreman Manager, you need strong leadership, project management, and technical expertise in your specific trade, often backed by relevant experience or vocational training. Familiarity with construction management software, scheduling tools, and safety regulations is typically required. Effective communication, problem-solving, and the ability to motivate and coordinate teams are standout soft skills in this role. These abilities ensure smooth project execution, workplace safety, and timely completion of tasks within budget.

Location: Alexandria, VA 22304 -- Must report to the shop daily

Pay: $25-$35+ per hour, depending on experience

Bonuses: Weekly/monthly performance bonuses + regular overtime opportunities

Benefits: Health Insurance, Dental Insurance, 401(k) with Company Match

Build a Career. Lead a Crew. Get Paid for Your Experience.

DMV Foundation Solutions is looking for an experienced Foundation Repair Foreman / Crew Leader to lead a 2-4 person crew on residential foundation repair, waterproofing, crawlspace, and concrete projects throughout Northern Virginia and the greater DMV area.

This is a hands-on working foreman position. You'll lead from the front--not from a desk or a truck. You'll work alongside your crew, operate equipment, make sure projects are completed correctly and safely, and communicate professionally with homeowners.

Foundation repair experience is a plus, but we're also open to experienced construction leaders from related trades who have the skills and work ethic to succeed in this role.

What You'll Do

Lead Your Crew

  • Lead and work alongside a 2-4 person crew on residential job sites
  • Assign daily tasks and keep the crew productive and on schedule
  • Train and coach crew members on proper work practices
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional job site

Perform Hands-On Construction

  • Complete foundation repair and structural repair work
  • Install push piers, helical piers, and other foundation systems
  • Perform interior and exterior waterproofing
  • Complete crawlspace encapsulation and related repairs
  • Perform concrete, excavation, demolition, and general construction work

Operate Equipment

  • Safely operate mini-excavators, skid steers, loaders, and other construction equipment
  • Use standard power tools, demolition equipment, and hand tools
  • Maintain equipment and report issues when needed

Manage the Job Site

  • Review project specifications and materials before leaving the shop
  • Make sure the crew has the materials and equipment needed for the job
  • Follow project specifications and company procedures
  • Keep the work area clean and organized
  • Identify and communicate job-site issues to management

Work With Homeowners

  • Maintain a professional and respectful presence in customers' homes
  • Communicate with homeowners about the work being performed
  • Answer basic questions and keep customers informed about the project
What We're Looking ForRequired
  • 2+ years of construction experience
  • Ability to lead a crew and take ownership of a job site
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Reliable transportation to report to our Alexandria shop each day
  • Ability to perform physically demanding construction work
  • Comfortable working in crawlspaces, basements, trenches, and outdoors
  • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 75 lbs
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
Experience That Will Help You Succeed

Experience in any of the following is a strong plus:

  • Foundation repair
  • Waterproofing
  • Crawlspace work
  • Concrete or masonry
  • Excavation
  • Residential construction
  • Structural repair
  • Heavy equipment operation
  • Crew leadership or foreman experience

Previous Foreman, Crew Leader, Lead Installer, or Senior Installer experience is preferred, but we will consider strong construction professionals ready to take the next step into a leadership role.
