Job description

AUI Inc. (AUI Power) is seeking a skilled, self-motivated, and dependable team player to join our AUI Power as an Underground Foreman. Position Summary:

The Underground Foreman leads and supervises crews performing underground electrical distribution work, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification. This role is responsible for daily work planning, safety enforcement, quality control, and coordination with project management, utilities, and inspectors. The Foreman also mentors crew members while maintaining accountability for production, compliance, and jobsite organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct supervision and technical guidance to Journeymen, Cablemen, Apprentices, and Groundmen
  • Manage multiple crews and projects simultaneously
  • Provide technical assistance and training to crews
  • Performs maintenance and construction on all projects
  • Responsible for coordinating essential personnel on-site for the project
  • Manage supplies, materials and equipment
  • Read and interpret site plans, construction drawings, and scopes of work
  • Communicate directly with General Foremen, Project Managers, Line Crews, and other project personnel as required
  • Utilization of heavy equipment, digger derricks, bucket trucks, trenchers, and groundwork
  • Establish quality work ethic and commitment amongst the team
  • Know and enforce safety rules, practices, and regulations
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work zone in high-traffic pedestrian areas (city environments)
  • Clean and maintain equipment, trucks, and tools
  • Site cleanup


Minimum Requirements:


  • 10+ Years' experience in the Underground Electrical Distribution field with at least 3 years' experience as Foreman and/or General Foreman
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical prints and schematics and be familiar with network systems
  • Must be familiar with PEPCO Total Outage Application (TOA) process and requirements
  • Competent in job walk down including Miss Utility requirements
  • Must be able to pass test for LOTO and Clearance holder at Exelon (Pepco)
  • Must have a current, valid driver's license with the ability to obtain a Class A CDL within 6 months
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Work 40+ hours per week to include during inclement weather, holidays, and/or weekends as needed
  • Willing to work overtime, travel long distances on short notice for storm and/or emergency events as needed
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Must be able to push, pull, bend, stoop, and kneel on a regular basis
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check and drug screen
