Summer Grounds Keeper Full time 20.50+ DOE/hr
Reports to: Facility Maintenance Supervisor Work Location: Clear Lake, SD
Functional Area: Facility Maintenance Required Travel: None
Exempt Status: Non-exempt Salary: 20.50 DOE/hr
Salary: DOE Schedule: Monday-Thursday
Job Summary: This position actively supports the upkeep and maintenance of the facility
grounds, equipment and buildings.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Performs lawn services such as mowing, trimming and clean-up for all areas around
buildings, outskirt grounds and ditches.
2. Cuts down or prunes greenery as needed.
3. Utilizes hand and/or motorized equipment.
4. Maintains buildings by performing minor and routine painting, filter changes, light bulb
changes, and other related maintenance activities.
5. Assists in cleaning of buildings, to include vacuuming and scrubbing floors, toilets, sinks and
mirrors.
6. Assists in maintaining trash and paper recycling programs.
7. Performs other work duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.
Requirements
Required Knowledge and Skills/Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States (ITAR restrictions).
  2. Must be at least 18 years of age to work at this facility.
  3. Must be eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for all employees of Tech Ord.
  4. Working knowledge of lawn-tending machinery and tools used for upkeep and maintenance purposes.
  5. Ability to communicate and document effectively in English.
  6. Ability to work effectively with other employees as part of a team.
  7. Ability to multi-task in support of end-result/goal.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
The description of the physical demands and the work environment characteristics here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform and those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
While performing the duties of this job:
  1. Ability to talk and hear in order to communicate with others.
  2. Required to sit 60% for majority of the workday while operating lawn mowers.
  3. Required to stand and/or walk both indoors and outdoors.
  4. Must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel as well as reach with hands and arms.
  5. Lifting of 10 pounds is required. Must be able to move materials by lifting, pushing or pullingup to 50 pounds, and over 50 pounds with assistance.
  6. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus when viewing a computer monitor.
  7. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and explosives.
  8. Ear protection is required as indicated throughout the facility.
  9. Where required employees must wear a minimum of 50% cotton clothing including undergarments to mitigate electrostatic discharge (ESD). Must also wear company issued safety footwear.
