Job description

Position Summary

The Running Backs Coach is responsible for developing, mentoring, and preparing the running backs within the St. Petersburg Catholic Football Program. This coach will work closely with the Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator to implement offensive schemes, develop players both on and off the field, and uphold the mission and values of St. Petersburg Catholic High School.

Essential Responsibilities

Player Development

  • Develop the technical skills of all running backs, including:
    • Ball security
    • Footwork and agility
    • Vision and decision-making
    • Route running and pass-catching
    • Blitz pickup and pass protection
    • Blocking techniques
  • Create and execute individual drills during practice.
  • Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Develop athletes physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Practice & Game Preparation

  • Assist in planning and executing daily practice plans.
  • Prepare position meeting materials and film breakdowns.
  • Ensure players understand offensive terminology, assignments, and adjustments.
  • Prepare scouting reports for upcoming opponents.
  • Make in-game adjustments with players during contests.

Culture & Leadership

  • Model Christian values and promote the mission of St. Petersburg Catholic.
  • Foster accountability, discipline, and teamwork.
  • Build meaningful relationships with student-athletes.
  • Encourage academic success and character development.
  • Support a positive and competitive team culture.

Program Support

  • Attend all practices, games, meetings, and offseason workouts.
  • Assist with strength and conditioning initiatives.
  • Participate in offseason player development and summer activities.
  • Assist with equipment management for the running backs.
  • Support youth camps and community engagement events.
  • Help with recruiting and retaining student-athletes within the school community.
Qualifications
  • Previous coaching or playing experience at the high school level or above preferred.
  • Strong understanding of offensive football concepts.
  • Ability to teach and develop fundamentals effectively.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a coaching staff.
  • Must meet all FHSAA, Diocese of St. Petersburg, and St. Petersburg Catholic employment requirements, including background screening and required certifications.
