What does a football performance analyst do?

A Football Performance Analyst collects, interprets, and presents data related to players’ and teams’ performances to help coaches and players make informed decisions. Their work involves analyzing match footage, tracking statistics, and generating reports that identify strengths, weaknesses, and tactical insights. By using specialized software and data models, they contribute to developing strategies, improving individual player performance, and gaining a competitive edge.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a football performance analyst?

Job description

Flag Football Coach | Odee Sports

Please Apply! According to Harvard Business School research, some candidates will only apply if they feel they meet 100% of the requirements. Don't worry about that — we encourage all backgrounds and experience levels to apply.

At Odee Sports, we call our coaches "Strategy Analysts" — because the job is bigger than drills. We're looking for enthusiastic, knowledgeable flag football instructors to lead individual and small-group sessions, helping people of every skill level build technique, fitness, confidence, and a lifelong love of the game.

More than anything, we're looking for someone patient — someone who can meet a total beginner exactly where they are, without judgment, and make them feel capable and excited to keep learning.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging sports instruction tailored to participant skill levels
  • Teach sport-specific techniques, rules, and strategies
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Ensure participant safety and enforce appropriate safety protocols
  • Provide constructive feedback and track participant progress
  • Adapt coaching methods to different learning styles and fitness levels

Qualifications

  • Friendly, approachable, and patient demeanor — this matters more to us than a perfect playing résumé
  • Previous athletic experience strongly preferred — competitive flag football, tackle football, or other high-level sports background is a big plus
  • Prior playing, coaching, or instructional experience in the relevant sport
  • Passion for helping beginners learn new skills
  • Ability to build confidence in athletes who may be new to the sport
  • Ability to motivate and engage athletes of varying ages and abilities; experience working with adults is a plus
  • Must be local to the Los Angeles area, with reliable transportation in and around the Los Angeles metropolitan region, and punctual
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred
  • Background check may be required

Why Work With Us?

  • Grow your network — Join a community of ambitious students and young professionals across LA universities: athletes, instructors, founders, and peers building something beyond the classroom.
  • Build your resume — Hands-on startup experience that actually means something, with real projects in growth, partnerships, operations, marketing, and community building.
  • Get rewarded — Competitive pay, performance-based rewards, and bonuses for growing our community, bringing in new users, and supporting successful partnerships.
  • Work flexibly — School comes first. Flexible hours and project-based responsibilities designed to fit around classes, clubs, and internships.
  • Grow your confidence — Pitch ideas, lead conversations, and represent a growing brand while sharpening your communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Join the culture — Access to Odee events, community experiences, team socials, and early opportunities to shape the brand from the ground up.
