Department: Nutrition Services
Reports to: Executive Team Chef
Location: Arizona Cardinals (Tempe, AZ) NOTE: Starting 2028, this role will be based at the new Arizona Cardinals Training Facility in north Phoenix, AZ.
Format: In-person

Job Summary:
The Team Cook supports the Nutrition Services Department by preparing and serving high-quality meals for Football Operations and Business Operations throughout the year. This position assists with food preparation, cooking, service, sanitation, inventory, and kitchen organization while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, safety, and professionalism.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with and learn from our new Executive Team Chef, Justin Beckett.
Primary Job Duties:
The Team Cook will have the daily responsibilities including, without limitation, to the following:
  • Prepare raw ingredients for line use, produce dressings and marinades, assemble salads, grab-and-go items, and other menu components.
  • Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, production schedules, and quality standards.
  • Maintain clean and organized prep and cook stations to ensure food safety and efficiency.
  • Receive, inspect, organize, label, rotate, and store deliveries using FIFO (First In, First Out) food safety practices, adhering to guidelines for discarding or returning products that do not meet organizational standards.
  • Support Front of House (FOH) operations during meal service and as needed by assisting with food service, maintaining product availability on the line, and communicating effectively with FOH staff to ensure efficient service and a seamless guest experience.
  • Efficiently operates and maintains clean and orderly prep and cook station.
  • Ensure all food meets organizational quality and presentation standards.
  • Support chefs with menu execution, recipe preparation, and seasonal menu changes.
  • Assist with off-site meal service, including Training Camp operations as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while working around players, coaches, and staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or GED (or equivalent work experience). Formal culinary training in all areas of meal preparation, including scratch cooking, preferred.
  • Experience: At least two (2) years of experience as a line cook, preferred
  • Experience: At least one (1) year of experience in high volume/high-end catering and/or hot line, preferred
  • Current Food Handler Card (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, restaurant, catering operation, or food service environment.
  • Basic culinary skills, including knife handling, food preparation, and safe food handling practices.
  • Working knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Understanding of food safety, sanitation, labeling, and FIFO inventory practices.
  • Ability to follow recipes and production schedules while maintaining quality standards.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and a positive attitude.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, proper hygiene, and uniform standards.
  • Ability to work positively in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to perform line duties for any meal service.

  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for periods of up to eight (8) hours in length, lift food deliveries and equipment up to 50 lbs., work with knives, and assist in setting up the training camp kitchen.
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality and sensitivity around professional athletes in their work environment.
  • Execute training camp meal operations at off-site locations.
  • Assist all chefs in presenting and executing new recipes following food trends that adhere to dietary and nutrition needs of the team, preferred.
  • Strong understanding of flavor profiles, seasoning, and recipe execution, preferred.

  • Ability to participate in recipe development and dish creation with focus on sports nutrition, preferred.

  • Flexibility to work early in the morning, evenings, weekends, and holidays and travel for Training Camp or other football operations as needed.
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment screening, including a background check.
