We're looking for reliable, confident, and energetic referees to help create an outstanding game-day experience for our athletes and families during the Fall Flag Football season. If you love the game, can make fair decisions under pressure, and enjoy working with young athletes, we'd love to hear from you.

Season:ย September 12, 2026 โ€“ November 1, 2026*

Locations:ย Washington, DC - Maryland- Northern Virginia

Job Type:ย Part-Time | Seasonal

Program Schedule

Weekend Recreational Leagues

  • Saturdays and Sundays
  • Between 9:00 AM and 8:30 PM

Schedules and game assignments vary by location and availability.

What You'll Do

  • Officiate youth flag football games in accordance with league rules and standards
  • Ensure a safe, fair, and enjoyable experience for all participants
  • Make timely and consistent calls while maintaining professionalism and composure
  • Clearly communicate rulings and game procedures to players, coaches, and families
  • Manage game flow, sportsmanship, and player conduct
  • Assist with field setup, equipment organization, and game-day operations
  • Serve as a positive ambassador for Flag Star Football

Qualifications

Required

  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Reliable transportation to and from league locations
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Access to a cell phone, email, and internet
  • Commitment to assigned shifts throughout the full season

Preferred

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous officiating experience
  • Experience coaching sports or working with youth athletes
  • Knowledge of flag football rules and gameplay
  • CPR/First Aid certification

Don't have officiating experience? Training is provided for candidates who demonstrate strong communication skills, professionalism, and a willingness to learn.
