Description
Position Title: Part-Time Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach
Reports to: Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, Athletic Director
Employment Status: Part-Time, Hourly
Primary function: The Part-Time Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach will assist the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach with the daily operation of the strength and conditioning program. The position will support the development of student-athletes through safe, effective, and sport-specific strength, conditioning, speed, mobility, and injury-prevention training. The coach will help provide an excellent, transformative student-athlete experience while maintaining the standards, policies, and philosophy of the athletics department and strength and conditioning program.
Required Qualifications:
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Strength and Conditioning, or a related field preferred.
โ€ข A current strength and conditioning certification accepted or recognized by the NCAA or the institution is required; a CSCS is not required.
โ€ข Previous collegiate strength and conditioning, athletic performance, coaching, or related experience preferred.
โ€ข Demonstrated leadership, professionalism, communication skills, and ability to work effectively with student-athletes and coaching staff.
Education: Bachelor's degree preferred.
Essential duties
โ€ข Assist the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach with the design, organization, and implementation of strength and conditioning programs for varsity athletic teams.
โ€ข Lead and supervise assigned strength training, conditioning, speed, agility, mobility, and movement sessions while ensuring proper technique, safety, and adherence to program standards.
โ€ข Provide appropriate instruction, coaching, feedback, and motivation to student-athletes during training sessions.
โ€ข Assist with testing, performance assessments, training data collection, and monitoring of student-athlete progress.
โ€ข Assist with the development and implementation of in-season, off-season, preseason, and summer training programs as directed by the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.
โ€ข Communicate and collaborate with sport coaches, athletic training staff, and other athletics personnel regarding student-athlete training and performance needs.
โ€ข Maintain a clean, organized, and safe strength and conditioning facility and ensure equipment is used and maintained appropriately.
โ€ข Assist with equipment setup, inventory, organization, and routine maintenance.
โ€ข Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities as directed by the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.
โ€ข Maintain accurate training records and complete other administrative duties related to the strength and conditioning program.
โ€ข Assigned responsibilities within the daily operations and overall administration of the strength and conditioning program.
โ€ข Performs other duties and special projects that may be assigned within the College.
Special challenges and environment:
Frequent early morning, evening, and occasional weekend work may be required based on team schedules. Work may take place indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions. Must be able to demonstrate and coach strength and conditioning exercises, safely spot and assist student-athletes, move and organize training equipment, and lift at least 50 pounds. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and remain active for extended periods.
Hourly Compensation: Part-time hourly position. Compensation will be determined by the College based on experience, qualifications, and assigned hours.
