Job description

Position Summary:
South Country Co-op is seeking a friendly and customer-focused Food Clerk to join our team at the Vauxhall Food Store in Vauxhall, AB. If you're passionate about providing exceptional customer experiences, we'd love to hear from you!

Reporting to the Food Store Manager, the Food Clerk plays an important role in delivering excellent customer service and ensuring a clean, organized, and well-stocked store environment. This position involves ordering, receiving, stocking, and merchandising grocery products while following all safety and sanitation standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide friendly and helpful customer service in the grocery department
  • Stock shelves, rotate products, and ensure proper product placement
  • Receive and unload deliveries accurately and efficiently
  • Maintain clean and organized aisles, storage, and display areas
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
  • Assist with inventory counts and merchandising plans as required
  • Deliver excellent customer service by assisting customers, promoting merchandise, and ensure customer needs, preferences, and expectations are met
  • Educate customers on the benefits of membership in South Country Co-op 
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 15 years of age and completed Grade 9
  • Previous grocery or retail experience is an asset
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and perform physical tasks safely
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • High level of integrity and a strong work ethic
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage time effectively

Work Schedule:

This position requires full availability, including weekdays and weekends.
