The Caring Place (@Miami Rescue Mission & Broward Outreach Centers) is a leading provider of services to the homeless and needy of South Florida. We are looking for like-minded, dynamic individuals to come and join our team. The Caring Place provides emergency shelter, residential programs, job training, education & computer literacy classes, healthcare, transitional housing, permanent housing, employment opportunities for homeless men, women, and children as well as programs for "at-risk" youth.
We are currently seeking a FT Food Services Driver at the Broward Outreach Centers in Hollywood, FL,
JOB SUMMARY
The Food Services Driver (FSD) reports to the Food Services Supervisor and will provide donation pick-up, and storeroom organization. The FSD will pick up and record donations, track inventory in and out of the department, and prepare related reports.
CORE DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drives agency vehicle to pick up purchases and donations using the shortest and safest route. Issues receipts to donors
  • Loads donations onto vehicle and installs strapping, bracing and padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit when appropriate
  • Unloads all purchases and donations. Opens all bales, boxes, crates and other containers containing donations
  • Sorts, inventories, and places items on racks, shelves according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, color or product using FIFO (first-in, first-out) storage methods. Marks packages or cans with identifying information and dates when applicable
  • Assists in maintaining storage areas in a safe and sanitary manner according to State of Florida health department regulations
  • May deliver donations to other agencies upon request of FSS
  • Demonstrates and maintains good customer service with donors, local businesses and vendors
  • Completes driver's log after each use of agency vehicle. Reports maintenance problems to supervisor immediately
  • Attends company sponsored events to support the residents we serve
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Assist supervisor in maintaining shipping and receiving logs and provide appropriate reports as needed
  • Assist in procuring donated food and supplies by strengthening ties with vendors and developing new food service donors
  • Will lead and/or participate in devotions, prayers, or other ministry activities ex. outreach events
  • Must be in agreement with and sign The Caring Place Statement of Faith
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Requires a High School diploma or GED
  • Valid State of Florida driver's license (4 pt. max) with good driving record and receive approval of Mission's insurance company to drive company vehicle
  • A State of Florida Food Handler's Certificate
  • 1 year office or warehouse work are preferred
  • Must have knowledge of food storage
  • Requires good customer service skills and a professional demeanor to effectively interact with all levels of clients, employees and outside contacts/vendors
  • Conversational Spanish and Creole highly desirable
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year experience in a non-profit organization or general office setting
  • Must be computer literate have experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods, and have the ability to lift and/or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Must also be able to see, hear and speak, in order to interact with staff and the general public
  • Must also be able to move around as needed to perform essential job duties
