Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Food Service Clerk serves prepared goods to customers at the Food Service counter by performing the following duties (other duties may be assigned):
  • Serves customers at the Food Service counter by listening to the request and obtaining the desired product.
  • Answers the telephone and takes orders when necessary.
  • Itemizes prices for counter goods.
  • Proper use of slicer to cut weighable product required.
  • Wraps and/or boxes and labels product.
  • Makes sandwiches and prepares lunch and dinner specials.
  • Set up advertising displays or arrange merchandise on the counter and tables to promote sales.
  • Stocks and replenishes products, napkins, condiments, waxed paper, and any other items at the Food Service counter needed to provide excellent customer service.

Customer Service Skills
Food Service Clerks are expected to provide customer service that is extra ordinary and exceeds the expectations of our customers. They are required to follow established policies and guides that go beyond simply smiling and greeting customers. Going above and beyond encompasses attitudes, respect, and flexibility. Food Service Clerks are expected to have a positive "can-do" attitude; treat others with respect; and easily adjust to changes in the workplace.
Education and/or Experience
High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the Food Service Clerk is regularly required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger; handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The Food Service Clerk occasionally is required to reach with hands and arms. The Food Service Clerk is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Food Service Clerk must frequently lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and color vision.
