The Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove (WVHUG) is recruiting for current and potential future, part-time or full-time Food Service Aides to join the Dietary Services team. Details of available positions will be discussed during the interview. The Home is a 24/7/365 long-term care facility that provides comfort, support, and professional healthcare services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. The Home is in Racine County, a short drive from Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and other key locations in southeastern Wisconsin.
This list of eligible candidates created from this announcement may be used to fill similar WDVA positions in the next six months.

Position Summary
Join the dedicated team that serves nutritious and delicious meals to veterans who call our facility home!
Under general supervision, the Food Service Assistant 2 interprets diet orders on tray lines following food safety and sanitation standards. This position also assists with quantity food production, performs breakfast or grill cooking, transports food carts between kitchen and servery areas, and works catered functions. The employee is an important part of the food service team.

Salary Information
Starting wage will be $18.00 per hour, with additional compensation for nights, weekends, holidays and overtime.
Sign-On Bonus of $3000 for eligible new hires who agree to remain in the job for one year. $1500 will be paid in the employee's first paycheck and $1500 will be paid when the employee completes a probationary period.
Food Service Assistant 2 is in pay schedule-pay range 03-09. Pay will be set in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan in effect at the time of hire. Starting pay for current State employees may vary based on applicable provisions in the Compensation Plan.
Job Details
Food Service Aides at WVHUG work 8-hour shifts between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., including a standard weekend rotation.
A position might be full-time (100%) or part-time (80%, 75%, or 60%). 100% positions work 40 hours/week. 80% positions work 32 hours/week. 75% positions work 30 hours/week. 60% positions work 24 hours/week. Full-time positions may be required to work overtime. All positions may be asked to work additional hours.
Job duties include moving carts weighing an average of 500 pounds safely through hallways; moving equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds; moving equipment and supplies weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance; and performing medium to heavy manual labor.
Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.
Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.
A 12-month probationary period may be required.
Qualifications
The required qualification that will be reviewed in the first step of the process is experience:

• preparing a product (e.g., measuring/counting quantity, ensuring quality, stocking, labeling and dating, prepping supplies, using work tools, following production schedules, working stations, tallying, making a salad, plating a meal, maintaining clean and safe area, setting up and taking down equipment, loading and unloading, following posted instructions, etc.)

In addition to the qualifications reviewed in the first step of the process, qualifications that will be reviewed in next steps are experience:

• Reading and following posted instructions *
• Performing food service functions
• Following sanitation standards and safety controls
• Communicating as a member of a team
