Job description


Primary Purpose
To experience Mountaire's culture first-hand and provide additional exposure of Mountaire's family-oriented work environment. The intern will evaluate the current Grow Out radius process to identify opportunities for simplification, efficiency improvements, and operational standardization. Working closely with Live Operations teams, the intern will review existing workflows, analyze process data, and gather feedback from stakeholders to identify challenges and improvement opportunities. The project will focus on supporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, improve decision-making, and streamline operational processes.
Project Highlights
  • Assess the current Grow Out radius process to identify opportunities for simplification and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate and recommend technology solutions that enhance data collection, accuracy, and reporting capabilities.
  • Analyze operational data and process workflows to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for standardization.
  • Collaborate with Live Operations stakeholders to develop practical, data-driven process improvement recommendations.
  • Present findings and recommendations to leadership to support operational efficiency and informed decision-making.

Qualifications
  • Must be currently enrolled and pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university (Pursuing a degree in Agriculture, Poultry Science, Animal Science, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, or a related field preferred).
  • Valid Driver's license.
  • Must pass the Mountaire Motor Vehicle Record check.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate processes and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across operational teams.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated team player with a commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Major Duties & Responsibilities
  • Complete assigned project identified by department mentor
  • Attend weekly seminar series across different Mountaire facilities
  • All interns must be available to travel to Delaware during the last week of the program for final presentations (August 2 - 6, 2027)
  • All interns are required to complete a 10-minute presentation on their project at the conclusion of summer. Presentations will take place in Millsboro, DE at the Administrative Building during the week of August 2-6.
  • All interns must complete a mid-way evaluation (week 5) along with a final evaluation (week 10)
  • Anticipated weekly schedule is M-F, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.
