Job description

Are you passionate about keeping food safe at scale. As a Food Safety Manager on Amazon's North America Food Safety Operations Team, you'll be the frontline guardian of food safety across our entire fulfillment network. From investigating overnight incidents to leading cross-functional audits, you'll drive compliance programs spanning temperature controls, HACCP, sanitation, and pest management.

You'll leverage data and technology to identify trends, close gaps, and automate processes-ensuring millions of customers receive safe products daily. No two days are alike: one moment you're training teams via video conference, the next you're coordinating critical incident containment. If you thrive in fast-paced environments and want to protect public health at an unprecedented scale, this role is for you.
Key job responsibilities
- Provide governance and continuous improvement in complex food safety programs related to temperature controls, food safety audits, Learning and development, HACCP, sanitation, and pest control across all Amazon businesses;
- Implement, train and validate Food Safety Operations programs and processes to drive food safety execution at the retail level;
- Leverage technology to automate and manage compliance processes;
- Drive food safety compliance across a large business by analyzing data to identify compliance trends

Update policies/procedures to close operational food safety gaps.
- Create and monitor business metrics to track compliance and process effectiveness. Demonstrated ability to make high-judgement decisions, under pressure;
- Leverage deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks including Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), and FDA guidelines to ensure audit processes and corrective actions align with current standards
- Investigate and analyze customer complaints and trending data related to food safety, ensuring thorough documentation and timely resolution while identifying systemic issues for continuous improvement
A day in the life
The Food Safety Manager is crucial to executing new programs, improving existing processes, and executing food safety and compliance initiatives.

Your day starts reviewing overnight incidents and monitoring KPI dashboards before joining the daily food safety status call. Mornings involve responding to site managers' questions and documenting corrective actions. Afternoons include leading cross-functional incident analyses, conducting site audits, updating protocols, and training teams via video conference.
Days can pivot quickly when critical incidents arise-requiring immediate containment coordination and stakeholder communication

Whether on-site auditing, analyzing data, or managing emergencies, no two days are alike. The day ends with documentation updates and ensuring overnight teams have support, with on-call availability for critical issues.
