Job Title: Program Assistant

Location/Work Status: Honolulu, Hawaii with flexible work environment

Job Type: Regular Full Time, Exempt

Compensation: $18.88 / hour

Hours: Generally, 10:00am - 6:30 pm, Monday through Friday with ability to work flexible hours and weekends as needed. Work hours will be scheduled with the Supervisor.

Summary of Program and Position:

PACT Community TRY Centers in Kuhio Park Terrace and Puuwai Momi public housing offer comprehensive development programs for youths ages 5-18 who live in and around the housing complexes. After school programs promote the development of teens, families, and communities by providing educational activities and experiences including STEM projects, sports and recreation, community service, skill building, and support services. Programs support the growth and development of our youth by teaching leadership and life skills and encouraging positive experiences as alternatives to drugs and gangs. TRY Center activities are free and open to family residents of public housing complexes in the respective areas.

The primary responsibility of the Program Assistant is to organize, manage, and coordinate a variety of administrative and program related activities for Tenacious Rooted Youth (TRY) Center Program. The Program Assistant also provides administrative and clerical support to the Program Director and the staff of the TRY Center program. This position is under the direct supervision of the Program Director.

Essential Duties:

1. Behave in a manner that supports the agency's mission and follows personnel policies and procedures.

2. Perform general administrative tasks including inter and intra communication: answering phones, relaying messages, managing the efficient and effective flow of communication, running necessary errands to ensure timely mail delivery drop off, supply pick-up, and/or provide coverage between program locations as needed.

3. Reconcile and process purchase orders, staff reimbursements and ensures that all files and documentation are forwarded to PACT’s Fiscal department in a timely manner. Tracks and reports on program activity as directed.

4. Assist with the development and implementation of program activities including planning and coordinating monthly family nights, special events and off-site activities in collaboration with the TRY Center staff.

5. Serve as backup to servicing staff by helping to supervise youth participants during program activities and accompanies servicing staff when transporting youth to off-site activities

6. Engage, connect, and interact with youth enrolled in the program and their families

7. Perform other supportive tasks such as help with food bank shopping, quarterly cleaning of sites, and other tasks as requested.

8. Manage and maintain program supply inventory and equipment and assist program staff with computer needs - trouble shooting and problem solving, and database support.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Other:

  1. Be at least 18 years of age.

    2. Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and daily access to an automobile.

    3. Possess and maintain proof of no-fault insurance.

    4. Can obtain an acceptable pre-hire driver’s abstract and annually thereafter.

    5. Can obtain an acceptable Fingerprint (FBI) Background Check upon initial hire and annually thereafter.

    6. Can obtain a State Criminal History check upon initial hire and annually thereafter.

    7. Can obtain an acceptable CWS child abuse registry check initial hire and annually thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year’s experience working with youth and/or families, preferred.
