About Vala's

Located in Gretna, Nebraska, Vala's is a family owned and operated fall festival open to the public 45 to 55 days a year and is a treasured fall tradition for many families in the surrounding communities. Vala's property spans 400+ acres, including over 50 attractions, such as pick-your-own pumpkins, apples, and flowers, and over 25+ food locations. Our mission at Vala's is to bring happiness to the world by creating a place where magical memories are shared between families and friends- one person, one pumpkin, one experience at a time.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

As a part of the food team, this position is responsible for preparing food items for consumption by guests. This position is also responsible for making kettle corn, donuts, caramel apples and other house made, perishable food items. Additionally, this position is responsible to grill, fry and prep food to order. This position reports to the location Team Leader. This is a seasonal, part to full time position. Location may vary based on business needs.

  • Grilling, frying and prepping food for service to guests
  • Assists in preparation and execution of food for catering events, as needed
  • Ability to use and work around industrial kitchen equipment, such as ovens, mixers and donut machines
  • Ability to follow step by step recipes and processes accurately and consistently
  • Apply appropriate food ingredient labels to packaging of products
  • Understand and prioritize production needs of assigned station
  • Maintains a clean and food-safe work environment, following state and local ordinances, at all times
  • Place prepared food in appropriate areas to either be served to guests or transported to other locations
  • Ensure shelves, tables, and counters are stocked at all times
  • Communicate in a timely manner with leadership about inventory
  • Assist with food and beverage deliveries, ensuring proper storage of all items
  • Interest in food prep and/or baking- experience not required

  • Strong problem solving and multitasking skills
  • Able to perform repetitive movements and tasks for extended periods of time
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, carry, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, twist, and reach for extended periods
  • Ability to move 25 lbs, 25-50 lbs frequently, and 50-70 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to work in variable weather conditions
  • Interest in food prep and/or baking- experience not required
