Overview
The Operations Manager is responsible for establishing and executing company strategy related to domestic and international
freight movements through an understanding of industry trends and best practices. Recruit, develop and motivate staff to provide
a world class customer experience and meet or exceed client expectations. Insure the station has the necessary tools in place to
succeed and expand their business levels in international products lines in a sustained fashion. Work with current and
prospective logistics services providers and internal AIT functions to develop the best overall strategy. Execution of those
strategies includes establishing, measuring and managing to applicable metrics with service providers, vendors and internal AIT
functions to ensure timely and efficient flow of product for AIT.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute the station's operations strategy of AIT
  • Ensure processes and metrics are in place to insure growth, service and profitability goals are accomplished.
  • Manage and communicate with AIT's carriers insuring best value and service vs objectives.
  • Exhibits strong negotiating skills and execution in Freight Forwarding Carrier Agreements.
  • Ensures providers meet and adhere to the scope of SLA (Service Logistics Agreement) and agreed terms of service.
  • Ability to track performance and develop strategic processes and proactively improve efficiencies and reduce lead time lanes.
  • Continue to build rapport with clients and work to develop new opportunities and create and manage key visual tools and tracking processes.
  • Provides coaching and mentoring employees in a broad global environment.
  • Actively support key account operations requirements and insure service execution and reliability.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in logistics or equivalent experience Required
  • 5+ years of international freight forwarding, airfreight and ocean freight, Required
  • 3+ years P&L experience, Required and 3+ years of operations supervisory experience and managing a team Required
  • 3+ years Previous experience in a diversified freight forwarding industry Preferred
  • 3+ years International Freight Forward industry experience Required
  • Operational and P&L management of global products and services in a high performance organization.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral with the ability to communicate to employees, manager and upper management levels.
  • High Advanced Computer Skills
  • IATA certified, DG certification Preferred
