Position Title: School Nutrition Program Service Manager - 26-27 School Year

Employment Classification:ย 10-Month Hourly, Non-Exempt, Full Time

Seton Catholic Schools is a network of K-8 parish schools in Milwaukee. There are currently 14 schools serving 3,000 students in the network.ย  The network is planned to expand to a total of 20 schools serving nearly 7,500 students, making Seton the largest Catholic elementary school network in the country.ย  Seton is strengthening academics, faith formation and life-long outcomes for all students and is a unique model on the front end of transforming Catholic education in Milwaukee and across the nation.ย 
Role Summary:
The SNP Manager will coordinate food services for assigned schools.ย  The SNP Manager will have managerial responsibility for planning and supervising all food service activities in school.ย  You will implement standards to maintain quality control and efficient operation of the National School Breakfast and Lunch Program.ย  The SNP Manager will train and direct the SNP Associates and SNP Associate Manager with the requirements of following all State, Local and SNP requirements. The SNP Manager will cook, serve, and clean on a daily basis.ย  They will demonstrate that all staff work together as one cohesive team.ย  Ability to travel on a daily basis as required.ย  Must have a current driverโ€™s license and auto insurance.ย 
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:ย 
ย Management:

  • Lead and direct SNP Associates and SNP Associate Manager to ensure all daily tasks are complete according to USDA/DPI regulations.
  • Accomplish staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and evaluating job results.
  • Communicate in a professional manner, any staff problems, compliance issues or food quality issues to the Associate SNP Director and the SNP Director

Planning and Meal Preparation:

  • Forecasts and orders food and supplies required for school as necessary, according to established Seton purchasing methods and procedures.
  • Monitors compliance with approved food preparation and service procedures, including the use of standardized recipes, portion control, presentation, and quality of food.
  • Participates in taste testings and evaluation of new products, recipes, and methods of preparation.
  • Ensure serving line is ready at designated school time and that the line is organized and efficient.
  • Assist students with healthy choices at mealtimes.
  • Provide and obtain feedback from students, parents, and satellite sites regarding food quality and menu choices.
  • Communicate any students with food allergies to the SNP Director and/or SNP Associate Director.

Record Keeping:

  • Coordinates and controls compliance with proper procedures for preparing, recording, and reporting meal counts, production records and HACCP logs.
  • Train staff on accurate POS counting, HACCP logs and production records.
  • Responsible for maintaining records through computerized programming; maintains daily meal counts, word processing and spreadsheet formats.

Food Safety:

  • Demonstrates established standards, methods, and procedures for food safety at assigned school, in accordance with USDA, HACCP and State regulations, Health Department standards and SNP standards.
  • Implements cleaning schedule for production areas and monitors daily sanitation inspection.
  • Maintains clean, well-organized storage areas, including freezers, refrigerators, and dry storage areas.
  • Trains and reviews training of employees on the implantation of procedures to maintain health, sanitation, HACCP, and safety standards.
  • Completes all annual training requirements as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications
Physical Requirements:

  • Carry, move, and stock food, supplies, and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs, storing at heights for 6โ€ to 60โ€ from the floor.
  • Must be able to tolerate temperatures ranging from -10 F to 40 F for periods of time up to one-half hour.
  • Must be able to tolerate temperatures of 80 F for the duration of workday.
  • Must have the stamina necessary for the efficient performance of duties.
  • Must be able to stand on feet for duration of workday.
  • Must be free from communicable diseases.
  • Additional Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Deep belief in all children and the mission of Seton Catholic Schools.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency or equivalent experience required.
  • One to three years of supervisory experience associated with a food service program in the educational field or in other types of quantity food production operations desired.
  • Food Manager Certified or must be able to take a Food Manager class and pass the exam within 3 months of hiring.ย 
  • Knowledge of quantity food service, food preparation methods and operation of food service equipment
  • Knowledge of sanitation procedures and conditions for food preparation, food safety, service, and storage.ย  Working knowledge of HACCP procedures and requirements.
  • Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with other employees, suppliers, school staff, students, and the public.
  • Ability to accept and interpret direction given by supervisors including school administration.
  • Ability to supervise and direct the work of skilled and unskilled employees, to give clear oral and written instructions and to adhere to SNP policies and procedures.
  • Ability to keep accurate records, estimate food, order correctly, and maintain inventory controls.
  • Working knowledge of computer basics such as Google Docs/sheets/email and Windows.ย  Ability to learn new computer skills as needed.
  • Adhere to uniform requirements at all times.ย 
  • Personal appearance adheres to appropriate grooming and hygiene.
  • Adheres to Seton policies and procedures.
  • Ability to assist at other Seton Schools as required.
  • Able to collaborate and work in a team atmosphere
