Job description

Hello! We are looking for a dedicated Quality Control Inspector I to join the family! Del Real Foods is a traditional Mexican food manufacturer born out of a family farm. Today, Del Real Food makes tamales, carnitas, salsas, and other recipes inspired by the Cardenas' native Jalisco -- all created by hand with fresh ingredients and nothing artificial.

The Quality Control Inspector is under close supervision and following the appropriate GMP’s the employee performs basic Quality Assurance assignments using a supervisor or other higher-level inspector as guidance to perform daily assigned tasks.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Assist in the execution of food safety and quality checks on the line.

2. Provide technical assistance to operations regarding process deviation reports and product specifications

3. Retain ability to place product on hold that do not comply with food safety/quality or do not meet Del Real Foods specifications, including but not limited to the following:

a. Correctly and completely filling out the QA HOLD Tags and Release Information

b. Clearly stating the reason why product is placed on QA HOLD and any other relative information.

c. Ability to investigate root cause and determine disposition/corrective action under the guidance of QA leaders.

4. Communicate, deficiencies food safety and quality opportunities to Quality Assurance and Operations Management

5. Promotes, adheres, and is responsible for Food Safety and Quality of products on the area assigned.

6. Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)and employee safety required.

7. Basic food safety and quality inspections on the line(s) including addressing nonessential corrective actions under guidance/supervision of a QA Lead/Supervisor.

8. Basic knowledge on tools used in the scope of work including but not limited to thermometers, pH Meters, x-ray, and metal detectors, weighing scales, Bostwicketc.

9. Basic food safety knowledge compatible with meat processing.

10. Report any unsafe conditions to immediate lead, supervisor, or manager

11. Ability to read and fully understand basic daily forms and records to avoid repetitive errors on daily documentation

12. Basic understanding of HACCP and reports HACCP deviation to immediate supervisor or lead.

13. Basic understanding of quality assurance policies and procedures such as SQF (Facilities, Equipment, SSOP, SOP, GMP’s, etc.).

14. Reports incidents or concerns of compliance issues with USA & FDA guidelines and regulations.

Requirements and Duties:

  1. Communication skills: Verbal and written ability to communicate information to QA Lead/supervisor and other team members.
  2. Self-motivated, attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  3. Basic knowledge on HACCP and GMP requirements for employee practices in a USDA/FDA Establishment.
  4. Knowledge of calibration requirements for all testing equipment used for monitoring tasks of food safety and quality.
  5. Knowledge of employee safety practices.
  6. Able to follow written instructions and procedures.
  7. Knowledge of company employee policies.
  8. Flexible schedule, open availability M-F, plus OT and weekends if needed.
  9. Work in hot or cold and humid environment.
  10. High School/ G.E.D
  11. Some experience in the food industry preferred.
  12. Bilingual is highly desired.
