Job description

MATTIE N DIXON COMM CUPBOARD INC is a non-profit organization that primarily operates a food pantry and clothing boutique in Ambler, Pennsylvania. We support individuals and families experiencing food insecurity and economic hardship. We provide essential resources in a dignified, welcoming environment and collaborates with local partners to strengthen community support networks. Prospective team members join a mission-driven organization focused on compassion, equity, and practical assistance for neighbors in need.


The ideal candidate wants to make an impact and work in a fast-paced environment as part of a small team who serves community members with grace, dignity, and kindness. We are looking for a detail-oriented, quick learning individual who has great interpersonal skills, can switch gears in-between tasks easily, who is able to work independently with minimal guidance, as well as be a team player to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and accurately, and who wants to leave at the end of the day knowing they helped people. Communication needs to be open and clear to ensure that requests and assignments are scheduled, handled, and completed accurately and efficiently.


This is a part-time non-exempt position for 4-5 days a week from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. 


Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:


ยท      All things volunteer! Including recruiting, orientation, training, scheduling, maintaining records and clearances, and creating an appreciative environment for our volunteers.

ยท      Update and maintain a volunteer handbook and training guide.

ยท      Coordinate details for community events to help spread the word about the Cupboard.

ยท      Ensure that monthly home delivery schedules are fulfilled accurately.

ยท      Work with the team to ensure procedures for new and existing programs meet and exceed the needs of the neighbors we serve.

ยท      Coordinate all special events and programs including but not limited to: Annual Post Office Food Drive, School Supply Giveaway, Thanksgiving Meal Boxes, and Holiday Gift Card Program.

ยท      Talk with new clients to learn how we can support them and detail our programs.

ยท      Maintain accurate and up-to-date client files in PantrySoft.

ยท      Pack food orders when needed.

ยท      Answer incoming calls/emails and assist clients, donors, and volunteers.

ยท      Be able to lift heavy boxes/crates (within reason).

ยท      Helping out where needed within the Cupboard to encourage successful programming.

ยท      Be part of a hard-working, dedicated, fun group of staff and volunteers.
