Location: New York Metropolitan Area (hybrid: mix between office, remote, and field/client visits)

Salary Range: $120,000–$150,000 base, plus uncapped commissions

Position Summary

The Service Sales Engineer – Niagara Focus is responsible for driving revenue growth through owner-direct, net-new BMS projects, as well as system upgrades, retrofits, and service agreements. The primary focus of this role is to identify, develop, and close new project opportunities directly with building owners, creating long-term relationships while delivering TEC’s high standards of technical excellence.

This role blends technical knowledge with consultative sales. You will work closely with building owners, facility managers, and internal engineering teams to understand client needs, develop tailored solutions, and guide opportunities from lead generation through proposal, close, and post-installation follow-up.

Success in this role requires strong relationship-building skills, technical aptitude, and a proactive, results-driven mindset.

Key Responsibilities

Owner-Direct Project Sales & Business Development

  • Identify, develop, and close ownerdirect retrofit, upgrade, and new BMS project opportunities
  • Generate new business through new construction handoffs, existing accounts, and prospecting
  • Develop and sell service contracts, renewals, and preventative maintenance agreements, while positioning netnew projects as the primary growth driver
  • Plan and manage a daily/weekly call strategy to establish and nurture client relationships
  • Upsell additional services, system enhancements, and new lines of business
  • Client Engagement & Consultative Selling

  • Meet directly with building owners, operators, and stakeholders to assess system needs and uncover new project opportunities
  • Translate technical requirements into practical, valuedriven solutions tailored to ownerdirect projects
  • Prepare scope definitions, cost estimates, and detailed proposals
  • Present solutions clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Follow up consistently to secure purchase orders and close ownerdirect opportunities
  • Conduct postinstallation checkins to ensure commitments are met and satisfaction remains high
  • Internal Coordination & Execution
  • Partner with Service Engineers, Project Managers, and Operations teams to develop accurate scopes and pricing for ownerdirect projects
  • Ensure smooth handoff from sales to project execution
  • Maintain accurate pipeline, activity, and opportunity tracking in ConnectWise
  • Provide regular updates to leadership on forecasts, market activity, and ownerdirect project progress
  • Professional Development & Market Awareness

  • Maintain current knowledge of Niagara platforms, building automation technologies, and industry trends
  • Attend workshops, trainings, and professional events
  • Build strong industry networks and referral channels to identify new ownerdirect project opportunities
