Sr. Maintenance Technician - MillwrightSUMMARY

Provide the mechanical maintenance knowledge and skills to support the preventative, overhaul repair and maintenance of the rotating equipment in assigned operations unit.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Demonstrates strong safety culture through personal behavior and commitment to environmental, health & safety; Adhere to and carry out all company environmental rules, polices, standards & procedures.
  • Reports injuries, incidents and hazards to unit supervision as soon as reasonably possible.
  • Conducts tasks with appropriate PPE as assigned.
  • Responsible for personal safety and that of fellow employees.
  • Participate in and promote the Continuous Improvement Process.
  • Possess troubleshooting skills to define the problems with the plant machinery and participate in failure analysis on equipment as requested.
  • Provide quality repairs centrifugal and reciprocal pumps, compressors and other rotating equipment.
  • Set up, maintain and revise as needed the documentation for the units rotating equipment.
  • Interpret, maintain and initiate necessary revisions to the equipment documentation and repair history. This includes all critical measurements before and after repairs.
  • Develop as needed spare equipment status tracking data and report to unit operations as requested.
  • Provide technical information and assist planner and validator in planning and scheduling equipment PM's and repairs.
  • Review and recommend additions, revisions and deletion of spare parts stocked in the storeroom and in the CMMS Bill of Material lists for all rotating equipment.
  • Review and recommend equipment specifications changes. Document changes in the CMMS.
  • Develop, review and revise as needed equipment and component repair/rebuild "Standard Job Plans" and as needed equipment and component "Preventative Maintenance Job Plans".
  • The technician should be capable of writing an assembly and testing procedure excerpted from the equipment manuals.
  • Participate and assist in the training of company and contractor technicians.
  • Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus completion of a formal millwright training program (i.e. Millwright apprenticeship program, ABC, Military, Associates Degree in Maintenance Technology, etc.).
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of industrial/chemical plant maintenance in a millwright and/or related industrial rotating equipment maintenance.
  • Good communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and basic understanding of a Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Knowledge and proficient use of precision measurement instruments (i.e. micrometers, dial indicators, laser alignment etc.)
  • Knowledge relating to machine alignment, vibration analysis, non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques, rotating equipment tolerances and clearances.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, climb, kneel, squat/bend, push/pull; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and infrequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is sometimes moderate when working inside, however, some of the work may be required in the operating units which mandates usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs. Travel may occasionally be required.
