Job Summary:

The maintenance/millwright helper will assist with repair, maintenance, and welding and fabrication services as needed to meet the objectives of Gainey's Concrete Products. The job holder is expected to efficiently accomplish daily fabrications that are needed as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor and VP of Operations.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Always meet or exceed the safety, quality, housekeeping, and production efficiency objectives while always maintaining a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Cleaning, lubricating, and performing other routine maintenance work.
  • Uses hand tools, hoists, jacks, and other power tools to assemble, install, align and adjust machines.
  • Fabrication from semi-finished or raw materials by way of cutting, folding, machining, shearing, MIG and stick welding, etc.
  • Disassembles or dismantles machines.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs machines including when unexpected issues arise.
  • Performs preventive maintenance while making repairs on older machines.
  • Reading work orders, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine necessary work procedures.
  • Ensuring operating safety devices function properly upon completion of repairs, modifications, and installations.
  • Maintaining shop tools and equipment.
  • Off loads trucks as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/ Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience
  • General carpentry skills.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing and electrical.
  • Light mechanical knowledge.
  • MIG and Stick welding skills.
  • Self-motivated, working independently without supervision, energetic, positive attitude, and helpful.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Be able to meet tight deadlines.
  • Highly flexible with solid interpersonal skills used in a diverse team working environment.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently required to stand and walk.
