Job Description:
Job Purpose
The purpose of the Registered Nurse is to assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. The Registered Nurse will also administer care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients, as well as advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management.
Essential Job Functions
  • Assist patients and caregivers with questions or concerns about procedures.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs, as well as document and adjust treatment as necessary.
  • Administer and oversee intravenous injections.
  • Administer required medications.
  • Prepare patients for procedure.
  • Provide anesthetic assistance when patients require sedation for procedure.
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must have strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to follow instructions well.
  • Must have excellent bedside manner.

Education/Experience
  • LPN required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
  • Alabama Nursing License required
  • BLS certification required
  • At least (1) year experience required

Working conditions
This position works in the Radiation Department of a busy outpatient oncology/hematology/radiation clinic. Direct patient contact is required.
Physical requirements
This position requires that the employee be able to stand on their feet for up to (10) hours a day. This position also requires the ability to lift, move, and position patients who are very ill.
Direct reports
This position is not a supervisory position.
