Job description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Oncology Chemo Certified RN for an outpatient multispecialty clinic role requiring compact/CT RN licensure and current chemotherapy certification.
Job Details
• Outpatient multispecialty clinic setting within a Level I Trauma Center academic medical center,
• Cares for Breast Oncology, Breast Surgery, and Plastic Surgery patients,
• Day shift schedule, 4x9 hour shifts from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM,
• Duties include telephone triage, in-basket management, and assisting providers during clinic visits,
• Provides care for new and returning patients including pre-op/post-op and chemo teaching,
• Uses Epic charting system,
Job Requirements
• Active RN license (Standard or Compact/CT) required,
• BLS certification required,
• Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) required,
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in specialty required, though 1.5 years may be considered with Level I trauma or travel experience,
• Prior travel nursing experience required,
• Outpatient clinic and phone triage experience required,
• Epic charting experience required,
• Trauma Level I or large facility experience required,
• Teaching hospital experience preferred,
• Skilled in IV therapy/infusions, port access and management, and starting/maintaining IVs,
• Experience managing chemotherapy-related symptoms including nausea/vomiting, altered mental status, and skin/mucous membrane changes,
• Ability to recognize and manage oncologic emergencies such as anaphylaxis,
• Experience with oral chemotherapy administration and post-chemo body fluid handling,
• Skilled in recognizing and communicating abnormal lab values,
• Experience providing psychosocial care and patient/family education and support,
• Knowledge of biotherapy and management of related side effects,
• 1 professional reference required,
Additional Information
• Assists providers during clinic visits and delivers pre-op/post-op and chemo teaching to patients,
• Provides symptom management and monitors for oncologic emergencies,
• Works within a large academic Level I Trauma Center with 1,567 staffed beds,
• Scrub color required is royal blue,
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted,
• COVID vaccine and booster required except for religious or medical exemption,
• Candidates must live outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to be considered, as local candidates are not accepted,
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved,
• Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to return as a traveler,
• Travelers may be required to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities,
• First-time travelers are not preferred for this role due to required travel experience
