Job description

Job Title: Field Service Technician

Department: Field Service

Reports To: Area/Field Service Manager

Job Summary: 

Flogistix, LP, a leading atmospheric solutions company specializing in wellhead and VRU compression, is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of hands-on experience in the maintenance and repair of natural gas compression units, with a focus on General Motors 4.3L and 5.7L Engines and proficiency in Cummins 8.3 and 855 engines. While knowledge of various engines such as CAT is beneficial, it's not required. The Field Service Technician will play a key role in maintaining and optimizing our wellhead and VRU compression solutions, ensuring peak performance and reliability, as well as the safety of our employees and of our equipment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Follow all Flogistix safety procedures as well as customer specific safety compliance, if required at customer job sites, and maintain a safety-conscious work environment

  2. Build and assemble equipment or mechanical components according to specifications

  3. Track inventory on truck and accurately charge out parts as needed in order to maintain correct inventory count

  4. Maintain a clean work environment, which includes proper care for company vehicle and specialty tools

  5. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, spark plug changes, and tuning CNG engines

  6. Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment, and systems

  7. Replenish fluids and components of engines and equipment

  8. Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components

  9. Handling complex repairs related to the CNG fuel system, engine components, and vehicle systems

  10. Inspect natural gas compression units and run diagnostic tests to identify functionality issues

  11. Conduct repairs with a focus on maximizing reliability and efficiency  in order to maintain assigned units running properly

  12. Troubleshoot reported problems and implement timely resolutions

  13. Conduct emissions tests to ensure that CNG compressors meet emission standards set by local and federal authorities

  14. Resolve customer’s issues on rental and purchased equipment

  15. Keep detailed logs of work and report on issues

  16. Participate in training sessions to stay updated on the latest developments in compression technology

  17. Participate in a positive and relationship building work environment alongside coworkers, customers, management, and other departments

  18. Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED required

  • Must have a valid driver's license

Experience:

  • Familiarity with various natural gas compression units

  • Required to occasionally operate small portable cranes or lifting devices

Skills:

  • Basic knowledge multimeter use in order to diagnose various electrical issues

  • Basic computer knowledge and experience with automation controls preferred

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose functionality issues

  • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team to deliver results in dynamic and fast paced environments

  • Commitment to ongoing learning and ability to adapt to new technology, AI familiarity a plus

  • Must be reliable and dependable, work all shifts and arrive on time

  • Must be a responsible and safe driver and adhere to all Flogistix safety procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in reciprocating or screw compression is a plus

  • Proficiency in General Motors 4.3L and 5.7L Engines; Cummins 8.3 and 855 engine experience is a plus

  • Knowledge of 24vdc control panels and 4-20ma systems

  • Process Technology/Instrumentation background preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available for occasional on call work which may include weekends and nights

  • This is a safety sensitive position

  • Frequently required to stand, sit, walk, kneel, stoop, use hands to handle/feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Occasionally required to climb or balance

  • Ability to work outdoors

  • Daily travel in the field up to 75% of the time or more
