Job Purpose
Forklift operator will transport and organize pallets within the warehouse, along with loading or unloading trailers. Verify all cases have been located, selected, and strategically placed on pallets and shrink wrapped for stability. When necessary, remove and/or add cases of product that are missing from the pallet (about 30 lbs.) Using a 2500+ lb. electric pallet jack, move pallets of product throughout the warehouse in a safe manner, following all OSHA safety regulations. Conduct daily inspections of all equipment. Label and seal product with shrink-wrap in preparation for transport if needed. Maintain warehouse and clean areas as directed.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Load or Unload Inbound Outbound merchandise
  • Inspects packages on pallets before transporting them to a location
  • Stacks loads and empty pallets
  • Conducts pre- and post-shift equipment checks and periodic maintenance
  • Identifies workplace hazards and ensures a safe warehouse
  • Documents and reports equipment malfunctions
  • Forklift certification from a company-sponsored training program
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • When needed, count all pallets for accuracy
  • When needed use the handheld device to scan pallet tags and verify all cases are accounted for
  • Get with individual pickers to fix any mistakes they made while building the pallet
  • Must be able to operate a 2500+ lb. electric pallet jack and maintain all safety standards
  • Place pallets of products in areas designated by Warehouse Manager (must use best judgment based on most recent instructions), moving pallets in a safe, orderly manner
  • Thoroughly shrink wrap pallets when needed in preparation for transport, prioritizing as directed by the Warehouse Manager. Seal to ensure no slippage
  • Must be on time for work, shifts, and breaks so that the warehouse runs efficiently
  • Be respectful and courteous to management, and vendors
  • Good communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Able to work for extended hours
Skills and Qualifications
  • Ability and willingness to work hours (40-45-hour work week) - Part time hours to be determined with Warehouse Manager approval.
  • Proven ability to safely operate job-related equipment (forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, etc.) - some jobs may require training certification.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to read load sheets and verify cases on pallets
  • Have the ability to move products weighing up to 150 pounds.
  • Have the ability to carefully stack inventory and move it as required.
  • Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours
  • All employees in this position must have a company-sponsored physical to assess his/her ability to perform the essential functions of this position. Should the physical result in a questionable outcome, GCED will engage the employee in negotiations to determine if the employee can be reasonably accommodated within business guidelines.

Working Conditions
The job requires this employee to work inside and outside of a large warehouse.
Air conditioning and coolers make the warehouse cooler. This employee is expected to use caution while on the job.
