Job description

Senior Clerk - F/C (Classification)

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Sago Palm Reentry Center in the Classification Department. Our mission in the Classification Department is to accurately assess and classify inmates based on their needs, risks, and behaviors. We ensure appropriate housing and program placements within the correctional system. Our goal is to enhance safety and security while promoting effective rehabilitation, ultimately aiding in the successful reintegration of inmates into society.

Job Duties:

  • Be the backbone of the Classification Department by preparing correspondence, memorandums, and typing essential forms and documents.
  • Play a crucial role in the Inmate Records area by maintaining inmate files, conducting audits on new inmates, and preparing necessary forms.
  • Showcase your organizational skills by inputting data into the CDC database, retrieving and printing information, and maintaining classification documentation.
  • Keep the department running smoothly by receiving, date stamping, sorting and distributing mail, as well as handling, copying scanning, and faxing of documents.
  • Provide top-notch customer service by answering phone calls professionally, assisting inmate families, and taking on special projects and other clerical duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must possess two years of clerical experience.
  • Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.
