ABOUT THE ROLE

The GSW Estimator III is an integral part of the electrical construction process and ensures competitiveness, profitability, and growth. The Estimator is responsible for preparing cost estimates for various electrical construction projects.

Essential Functions

  • Act as a first point of contact for members of the Estimating team - Assist other members of the Estimating team with cost estimates and bid package preparation, Review and evaluate Estimating staff performance and Mentor and train Estimator Trainees and Estimators
  • Maintain bid log and report to corporate Estimating department
  • Prepare bills of material and other information for use by Purchasing
  • Determine constructability requirements via field walk-downs with customer, subcontractor, and construction personnel
  • Coordinate with Project Management - Compare various project documents for accuracy and consistency as well as data entry, Perform field take-offs/evaluations for estimate preparation and Assist project management in preparing and submitting change orders
  • Perform risk identification and mitigation planning for estimate preparation
  • Participate in estimate review process with internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist construction personnel throughout the project lifecycle in tracking and understanding of cost estimates
  • Follow-up at the end of projects to close any loops in the estimating process to include invoicing and cost tracking
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Essential functions of this position are to be performed at a Company-designated office or field location
  • Understand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards

ABOUT YOU

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar field; combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of degree
  • Minimum 5 years of transmission, substation, & distribution construction estimating experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Proven ability to prepare conceptual, design-build, and EPC estimates based upon minimal design input from engineering
  • Solid knowledge of national electrical code
  • Proven ability to read and understand civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, etc. plans and specifications to include blueprints, proposals, and other relevant documents
  • Proven ability to prepare work plans for transmission, substation, & distribution scopes of work
  • Solid knowledge of construction means & methods for transmission, substation, & distribution scopes of work
  • Risk identification & mitigation planning for estimate preparation
  • Advanced knowledge of transmission, substation, & distribution long lead equipment, materials, and methods of installation
  • Solid knowledge of engineered material costs
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, Bluebeam, Accubid and/or other estimating software
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, written, and communication skills
  • Team player mentality
  • Self-driven with the ability to stay on-task for extended periods of time while working independently

  • Salary $107,763.00-$134,615.00 / year
    • Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
