Job description

Floor Coverings International of Northbrook, IL is hiring hard-working, service-minded flooring installers. We work with installation crews who are skilled installers that take pride in their craftsmanship and customer service. We respect the customer and their home, we deliver what we promise, and we clean up.
Requirements:
  • Install solid and engineered hardwood flooring, including nail-down, glue-down, and floating systems.
  • Perform proper prep including subfloor inspection, moisture checks, leveling, and underlayment as needed.
  • Complete layout, racking, cuts, and detail work with high attention to quality and finish.
  • Install and finish transitions, trim, and stair components (treads, risers, nosing).
  • Perform sanding, staining, and finishing (oil- and water-based systems) to a consistent, high-quality result
  • Handle repairs, patching, and blending of existing hardwood floors when needed
  • Manage dust control and containment to maintain a clean jobsite and protect the home
  • Handle demo and removal of existing flooring as needed
  • Daily and final cleanup of the job site to company standards.
  • Keep tools organized and clean and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Ensure safe, organized, and efficient work practices at all times.
  • Ensure high quality company standards are met every time.
  • Job requires travel throughout the week.
Additionally:
  • You must review and understand the scope of work of the project before you get there and familiarize yourself with the project file
  • Have knowledge of units of measurement and able to complete needed math calculations.
  • Interact with customers in a friendly and polite manner. Work to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction with every aspect of the job.
  • Prefer experience with residential and commercial projects.
Qualifications:
  • 5 years in professional flooring installation.
  • Valid drivers license and clean, reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs and perform physically demanding work.
  • The position requires repetitive crouching, squatting, standing, walking and lifting.
  • Own all the necessary trade tools and equipment for flooring installation.
  • Must have own insurance (general liability, workers comp, and auto) for all jobs.
