Hardwood Flooring Apprentice

We are currently looking for a Hardwood Flooring Apprentice

SALARY WILL BE BASED ON EXPERIENCE

We are a growing hardwood flooring company, specializing in installation, sanding, and refinishing. If you like a variety of work and are interested in learning a trade this might be the place for you. We work in two-man teams and typically work in a new location every week within the Washtenaw county area. Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and US citizenship are required for this position.

Responsibilities and Duties:

This individual needs to be able to get themselves to and from job sites daily. Traveling will be expected within our coverage area. The ideal candidate will arrive on time, ready, and eager to learn. We are looking for someone who has a passion for working with their and hands and the willingness to learn a skilled trade. They will be required to follow and understand written and verbal instructions. There will be heavy lifting at times, and this is a very physical job. Must be able to conduct themselves professionally and keep a clean appearance. Will be expected to keep a safe and clean working environment.

Required Knowledge and Skill Set:

  • Must have some experience with utilizing Google apps such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, and Google maps (or other GPS systems). Can clock in and out of work remotely with a smartphone.
  • Strong work ethic: punctual and hardworking, takes pride in what they do, desire to improve upon their knowledge, and ability to be critiqued.
  •  Must be able to take direction and follow the steps given.
  • Must have a positive attitude
  • Have great attention to detail
  • Polite, and professional when dealing with clients and co-workers.
  • Keep a clean job site and be well organized.
  • Good personal hygiene
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record will be required for any advancement.
  • The ability to pass a background check and drug screening. We work in our client’s homes, not on a construction site, so you must be trustworthy, honest, and sober.

Preferred Knowledge and Skill Set:

  • Basic carpentry skills
  • Experience with TimeDock, or other GPS time tracking systems
  • Basic safety, and knowledge of power tools
