Job Description

The EP Assembler assembles metal products used in canal gates either, partially or completely, working at bench or on shop floor by performing the following duties:

Qualifications

  • Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.
  • Fasten parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, or other fasteners.
  • Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and subassemblies.
  • Removes small quantities of metal with handheld files and scrapers to produce close fit between parts.
  • Operates drill presses, punch presses, or riveting machine to assist in assembly operation.
  • Keeps equipment operational by completing preventative maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintains supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies. Placing and expediting requisitions for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.
  • Contributes to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Performsย other duties as assigned.

Skills/Abilities
Working knowledge of standard machine shop equipment and process.

REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
Language skills - ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.ย  Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Mathematical Skills - Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.ย  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions.ย  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
